I was extremely impressed with the amazing customer service and short wait time. I was all prepared to deal with poor service after reading so many reviews, but I was happily surprised. From the security guard at the door, to the lovely lady at the information desk, to the short wait time and the absolute amazing operator 12388 what a pleasant experience. I never imagined a DC government agency could run so efficient with such outstanding customer service. I highly recommend this DMV branch

Like others have said the DMV practically by definition is terrible- and my experience here was no exception. The process for registering a car from Maryland is so opaque that even employees can't keep it straight. Long story short- I got a 45 day parking pass when switching the car to DC. It turns out that I wasn't given the temporary plates I needed and my car was never logged in the system, so even with a clearly valid, visible sticker for my zone I still got towed about 2 weeks into my 45 days. When I tried to adjudicate the charges they essentially said that I should have caught the mistake and I was still liable for it. (also they essential force you to pay their outrageous ticket charges to move forward with any bureaucratic paperwork, whether it was a just charge or not). The DMV epitomizes the problem with big government!

Visited on a Friday at 8:20am to convert an out of state license, lobby already a little full from the people lined up before open. Initial contact with associate was totally friendly. Waited about half an hour, not bad, to be called back. The associate helping me was also super friendly and helpful and quick. Entire process from entry to exit took less than an hour. No complaints!

After I wait long line about two hours was missing one document it was in my car which is by the parking lot she wouldn’t let me go and back , she told me to back another day

The woman who helped me was very informative and patient in explaining my title transfer, registration and license. I got there way prior to opening and still had to wait in line but it was honestly fine. It’s the DMV - some waiting is expected and everyone was very professional.
