Had a wonderful experience here for a few nights in late August. Beautiful property with plenty of open space located on the edge of national forest. Campers can just hike off into the wilderness for a nice day trip. Owners were friendly and checked in on us every night. Would have stayed longer, but had to explore more distant areas of the Black Hills.

Excellent campground, right in the heart of Mt Rushmore activities. We hadn't planned to be in the area and all the state campgrounds were completely full. At around 7 pm we saw the sign to Echo Valley Campground and couldn't believe our luck!! Great tent camp sights for only $15 and Gary, the owner had free firewood set out at each fire pit! We ended up staying a second night and took advantage of the trails on the property and even took the peddle boat for a spin. Highly recommend this campground!

I would give this place 6 stars if I could! We tent camped here for 3 nights a couple weeks ago and have nothing but good things to say. It's the cheapest campsite in the area ($15 tent, $30 RV w/ hookups) and probably the nicest also. It's close to all the activities in the area, yet not a far drive off the main highway. It's at the end of a road so there is no thru traffic. We biked to Crazy Horse Memorial in 15 minutes and were only a short drive from Custer State Park & Mount Rushmore. The sites are all shaded and have a picnic table & fire ring. We found the sink and dish holder up by the shower building to be extremely helpful when doing dishes after a meal over the fire. The owner, Gary, was super friendly and accommodating. He checked daily to make sure we had everything we needed and even invited us to explore the lakes on his property, including a paddle boat. I heard other campers bragging about the big fish they caught and ate, but we just hiked around the area and marveled at the beautiful scenery. The bathroom/shower area was clean with warm running water. The only tricky thing is that there is only 1 water temperature so don't try turning the knob, like I did, because the temperature won't change. After spending almost 2 weeks exploring South Dakota & Wyoming, this campground was our favorite. Good people, good price, good location, good amenities, what else could you ask for?

Very nice campground. It was the only one not full as we arrived late at night on our way to Mount Rushmore. The host is incredibly friendly and the campground is spacious and relaxing. The pond a mile away from the camp also has a paddle boat, chairs, and fishing rods provided by the host. One of the best campgrounds I've ever stayed!

Loved this campground! So cheap and the owners are super friendly. $5 wood bundles and if you go fishing you can cook what you catch! Highly recommend this camp!
