Very nice library with lots of excellent material. There are also performances there from time to time.
Nice, clean, and very organized place. Big enough to put a temp agency inside the place. I've never ever seen that before! A great idea. I applied with the agency, and every job offer has been over $10.00 an hour! Still working on getting a job, but was there only a couple days ago. Anyways, I do plan on returning to the library to obtain a card, even though I can't stand reading. I know how to read, very well, just hate reading. But I like any business that's clean, with respectful employees, which they have plenty of.
I attended a computer class where we were received a free laptop. Well, the laptop’s battery is weak computer doesn’t stay on or charges. Have been calling and no one answers or returns my calls.
The security guard is very rude. It's an old man who can barely walk. He is not a very professional man. I was waiting for my turn to go inside because they now have a limit of the people who can be inside . So I waited for my turn when I tried to get in he told me no and let someone else go in instead. I will appreciate it if you could talk to his supervisor and let him know about this matter.
Love this library. I have fond memories of attending story hour at this location as a young child, volunteering in the children's section as a middle schooler and, up to now, as a life long learner. Upon entering, I appreciate seeing the shiny wood surfaces, the smell of books and browsing in the open spaces. The children's and teen libraries are just lovely! Thank you to the staff who make the downtown library what it is!
Most of the library workers are helpful and pleasant . My complaints are that you can go through all of the extensions and never get to speak to a living person . My other major complaint is the websites for the individual branches don't show what movies are playing when they show movies. It would actually be nice if this was available for all the websites to have what is showing and when at all the different branches.
I've been to this library since i was a little boy. This place has always held my best memories. To this day it hasn't changed. I might feel uncomfortable sometimes with some bums around, but they must always be welcomed here. The only troubling problem i experienced was when there were some guys, in the computer lab, were making a lot of distractions. They might have been junkies or something. But other than that, all is well; they staff are serious, organized people, the books are well organized, the rooms are clean, and the environment is perfect for anyone looking to study, read, or be with family.
If I could rate it zero stars, I would. Most of the staff are very rude, and the administration is even worse. I checked out some DVD's from there ONE time. The lady at the desk where I checked out was taking the boxes that the disks were in and bending them almost double to make the disk pop out instead of just pressing the little button in the middle to release the disk. When I got home, and we were going to watch the movies, I noticed that she had cracked one of the disk. I immediately returned to the library I live close , so it had been less than 15 minutes since I had left there and I explained to the lady that she had damaged one of the disks when she had removed it from the case it was stored in. She immediately had another staff member come over and he began defending her and trying to blame me for breaking the disk. She was acting very strange from the moment she saw me return. I think that she knew that she broke the disk when she removed it from the case, but instead of taking responsibility for it she attempted to shift the blame to someone else. When I explained to the other staff member how she was removing the disks, she lied and said that she had never removed any disks in that manner. I stated the fact that there were cameras pointed directly at the desk, and if they would review the footage then they would see that she was lying. They first tried to lie and say that the cameras didn't record, that they were just a live feed. It was at this point that I asked to see a supervisor. They then lied and said that there wasn't a supervisor there that day. I informed them that I had already seen the director's car parked in the back, then they said that they would check to see if she was in. He picked up the phone and dialed a 4 digit extension. He began speaking with someone and of course told them that I had broken a disk and refused to pay for it. I asked to speak with the person on the phone, but he refused to allow to speak with them. He then tells me that the director said that I was responsible for paying for the disk. I told them that I wanted to see the director, to which he lied again and told me that she wasn't in the office that day, that she had taken a sick day. I asked him how then had he just spoken with her on the phone. Now get this, he says that he called her at home. I asked him how it was that he had called her at home when he had only dialed an extension. I informed him that I wasn't ignorant by any means and I fully understand how multi-line phone systems work and that you cannot call an outside line by dialing a 4 digit extension. When I caught him in this last lie, he then says that he doesn't want to talk to me anymore and he then called their little rent-a-cop and asked him to get me out of the building. To this day, they have continued to attempt to charge me for that broken disk. Just be aware that if you check out anything from there, inspect it closely before leaving.
Wonderful place. Would go there all the time when it was open. Staff is very friendly and respectful towards me and always when I have a hold would make sure they tell me when its ready for pick up
Under construction and the whole thing is gutted down to the bones. Hopefully we will be seeing a higher level of technology in this. Can't wait.
