Updated review. This local chain has declined in service and quality. The last few visits have consistently had incorrect orders with a lack of correcting the problem. Sent back a salad, got the same salad back after the chef obviously picked through it. Another incorrect order, no offer to replace or discount, instead gives an extra charge for a side of sauce. I have been a patron of this chain for decades, but very sadly,  no more.

Yummy as always but when I was almost finished there was a little black hair in food. I'd totally 5 star if it weren't for that an the service was excellent as always. Sorry for the low rating.

Food was great, but bar was full of drunk obnoxious regulars singing over the blaring music and yelling at each other across the room.  The service wasn't great either....but luckily, the food never disappoints.

Washington is quite a ways away from Mexico. I'm from Southern California and grew up with a really good idea of authentic Mexican food. Eating at El Sarape was like going home. I would have ordered half the menu but it was a work lunch my boss was paying for.

When we visit, we spend most of our time in the cantina even though we have dined here for years. The servers here are awesome... Great drinks, layed back atmosphere.
