Story

Ema is a Mediterranean restaurant showcasing Chef CJ Jacobson’s lighter California style of cooking. At the core of the menu are spreads, dips and mezze, Mediterranean small plates. Signature dishes include Spicy Hummus, House-Made Stracciatella with Vine-Ripened Tomatoes, and Lamb Kefta Kebabs.

Ema shares its kitchen with Rotisserie Ema, a quick casual counter. Menu specialties include chef prepared salads, rotiserrie chicken and house-made frozen Greek yogurt. Rotisserie Ema is now open Monday-Friday from 11AM-3PM.

It's a fairly nice restaurant. And when they first opened it was very good. It's not the same as it was. I don't know if they changed owners or just don't care anymore now that they're established. The quality of the food and service is not supported by the prices they charge. It's a bit overpriced for a hotel restaurant and bar even for River North. The crowd in the restaurant seems to reflect this. When they first opened it was totally crowded, now not so much.

Stayed in the Hyatt Place hotel that features Ema off its main lobby. Great food and amazing bartenders. Stopped in for a drink and was so impressed by the quality and attention they put into making even the most of basic of drinks like the Amaretto Sour I ordered. Fantastic!

Very cosy and relaxed atmosphere. Lots of windows let in great natural lighting. I went during lunch and the whole crowd looked pretty trendy. Didn't see any kids or the elderly. The food came out in decent time. Most of the lunch portions, including the seafood, were pretty small, which our server disclosed in the beginning. I'm glad we had appetizers and desserts. If possible, try the honey pie!

I was invited to this friendly restaurant by some work friends here in Chicago while on business. In short, the food and service was worth talking about to friends and well worth a return at a future date. The homemade pita is excellent. The Scallops were perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of crunch and still a tender medium rare in the middle. Oh, and one thing many restaurants overlook. For those of us whom don't consume alcohol, find a good non alcoholic beer or two and believe me it matters to those of us whom do not partake these days. A little attention to detail goes a long way. I look forward to coming back.

This place was great. They were full, and so I worked with the host & hostess to come up with a plan to seat me (I was flying solo). They surveyed the bar, asked the bar tender whether there might be space opening up, and they said no. I ended up sitting at the back bar by myself, but that was no problem at all; I was just thankful they were so attentive. The food was excellent ... some of the best hummus and pita (the pita is amazing) I've had. I had the orange chicken dish which was pretty incredible. I will definitely return here.
