I recently applied for a Kazakhstani visa and had a great experience with the Kazakhstani embassy.

*NOTE: As of January 2018, U.S. citizens do not require a visa to enter Kazakhstan for a stay of 30 days or less.  However, obtaining a visa from either the embassy in Washington or the consulate general in New York allows U.S. citizens to stay in Kazakhstan for up to 90 days.*

First of all, I have to say that Mr. Nurzhan Tulendiyev, the Vice Consul, was excellent and went out of his way to facilitate the visa process.  I mailed my passport and visa application via U.S.P.S. Priority Mail on 20 December 2017.  There was a delay with U.S.P.S. and my passport and application were not delivered to the embassy until 27 December.  Mr. Tulendiyev quickly processed my application and I received my passport back in the mail on 30 December—less than 72 hours after it arrived at the embassy.

I am so grateful to Mr. Tulendiyev for his help.  I called Mr. Tulendiyev on 20 December with a few questions and he returned my call on 22 December.  There is conflicting information on the embassy's website—one webpage states that payment should be made by postal money order while another states that payment should be made online by credit or debit card.  Mr. Tulendiyev confirmed that the embassy only accepts online payment by card and does not accept postal money orders.  Due to the delay on U.S.P.S.'s end in delivering my passport to the Kazakhstani embassy, I had enough time to pay online before my passport arrived and e-mail the necessary confirmation to Mr. Tulendiyev (Mr. Tulendiyev was kind enough to return the postal money order that I had originally sent with my passport.)  Mr. Tulendiyev was also extremely helpful and went out of his way by e-mailing me when the delivery of my passport was delayed by U.S.P.S. and by later confirming that he had received my passport and providing me with an estimated processing and return time.

I have been to Kazakhstan several times and can confirm that it is a wonderful country with lovely people who are generally just as helpful as Mr. Tulendiyev.  I have traveled around the world and have applied for visas with many countries - it is generally VERY RARE to receive returned phone calls and e-mail replies from consular staff, especially concerning tourist visa applications.  I am very thankful to Mr. Tulendiyev and the Kazakhstani embassy staff and look forward to my upcoming trips to Kazakhstan.

Nobody picks up the phone. Even if they're trying to speak it's hard to understand what they're saying, very quiet and seems to have no desire to talk at all. Is this how you treat people in US citizens who trying to visit your country? Speak plain and be friendly when talking to people through the phone.

Excellent service! Call anytime, live a voicemail,  they call right back. Very professional and nice people. You never find people like them anywhere.

I have been calling all the numbers that excists every single day for 3 months, begging them to call me back. No one called back. No one never answered. Haven't heard any update about my documents for 9 months. It's redicilous! Workers don't have ethics nor discipline nor resoect to people. Extremely dissatisfied. This is how they take care of their own citizens abroad. Someine should stop this!!!
