Happy hour at the Empire Bar is really a good time. Certain cocktails are marked down and it’s a good time to try different things you may not have had before. The bartenders here are professional and the bar is very well stocked. If you would like a Ramos Gin Fizz, no problem, they can make it. There is often times locals at this bar and it’s a good place to learn about the city. Vegetarian options: Salads, seafood and non meat dishes Dietary restrictions: Staff will work with you on any restrictions you make them aware of Parking: Some free street parking and a few paid garages with in a few blocks Kid-friendliness: Not a kid kind of place Wheelchair accessibility: Fully accessible
We have previously been to the Empire Bar for cocktails and have loved them. We looked forward to returning, but were surely disappointed by the happy hour drinks. The barman did not measure anything, or shake them on ice, so they were warm and almost undrinkable. Please bring back the young staff to make great cocktails, rather than the ad hoc, throw it in a glass and hope, approach to drink making!
This was a horrible experience I would not even give this place one star! Attended a concert their and paid for three tickets plus VIP table in total totaling over 700.00. My VIP was to be the best table #1 actually on the confirmation of my ticket. When I arrived I was at not at the table I purchased but another. The place was extremely hot! People were fanning themselves. I was told I would have my own bartender and private bathroom. Not true! Also was given bottle service that cost another 275.00 for a bottle of Titos. When my bill was presented I tipped the bartender to only find the gratuity was already included on top. The production company of the concert was rude via text prior to show and have complete false information on regards to VIP. This was a complete rip off and horrible experience!
This was a fancy and interesting experience. Make sure you’re not just stopping in as a pregame for bourbon st. The dress code is classy so be sure to dress to impress, or a least look decent. The bartender was a newer girl Alexis I believe was her name. Apologies if I’m wrong. She was beyond accommodating and made some tasty drinks! The happy hour menu is small but they have delicious choices!
Let me start by saying... I'm a 40 year old woman. While I might look a tad younger... I could pull 35 at best. The man at the bar carded me. First carding I got in 10 bars. Oddly enough I left my id at the hotel. This man straight up wouldn't serve me. I had photos of my id and passport. Nope. While these have worked for me at the past at the airport, it did not work here. This wouldn't be as much of a peeve if other people at the bar right next to me did not get ID'd. Drinks were good and the other bartender apologized profusely but come on.
A hidden gem in the middle of the French Quarter for discerning cocktail-lovers, the Empire Bar is worth a visit for those seeking a respite from the hustle and bustle of Bourbon Street. The Empire Bar is attached to Broussard's - one of the grand dames of New Orleans dining. Walk into this cool oasis, have a seat at the classic white marble bar and let the bar staff work their magic. Empire excels at classic cocktails: the Ramos gin fizz and Sazerac are outstanding. Insider tip: go when the legendary Paul Gustings is behind the bar - with decades of experience, he will make bespoke cocktails if you tell him what you like. It's a unique experience worth seeking out. PS> The Empire Bar opens at 11am on Fridays and Saturdays - plan to stop for a pre-game cocktail before brunch.
Next bar on my list was this one. I feel like I came at the wrong time, on the wrong day. The bartender was not nice, he seemed kind of bothered by my presence. It was a younger guy, not Paul, weirdly enough I meet Paul later that night at another bar lol. Anyway, they have a happy hour so I wanted to check it out. I ordered the absinthe for $6 I think and the oyster Rockefeller served on a pistoellete. I wish I would of passed and not ordered anything. If you wanna try the absinthe I would say for the price this is the way to go, but it's super grossss lol. I forgot what it tasted like so I ordered it and totally regretted it. Lol if you like licorice then you'll like it. The tiny portion of food took forever and the bartender gave me something else telling me I ordered the shrimp remoulde salad something. The what?!?! Think again buddy I ordered what I ordered you were wrong not me. How annoying....... Finally he ordered the correct item and when I received it, it was looked boring and unappetizing. A fried oyster in between bread. Why didn't they just say "ghetto oyster po boy" lol It was nasty but for $5 I wasn't pissed At this point I just wanted to get outta there and go somewhere happier. I would say the happy hour is worth it for wine and a good stop for meeting up and either having dinner there or going somewhere else. Very elegant place. The restaurant looks like it would have a better ambiance. -reasonable prices on happy hour -take ur Chances with the happy hour food -knowledge and good bartenders regardless of the attitude.
Devin is by far the best bartender I have ever met. His knowledge of all things mixed with Bourbon and/or Gin is mind blowing!! Try the Gin Fizz, then ask them to go off book!! Their off the cuff mixtures are worth making the trip to Nawlins!! C'Est Si Bon!!!
The Ramos Gin Fizz live up to the hype! Bartenders made it with poise and ease, considered that they were bombarded with 6 of them at once. Atmosphere is fancy.
Don't use DoorDash to order, they will make the driver go all the way there only to say that the menu is outdated and they don't have anything on the menu.
