I went in looking for a breaker bar because it's close to my job. I walked in and 3 people came from 3 directions, including one woman standing in the door holding it, and 2 of them said "do you need something" in this aggressive tone like that just want to get rid of me or they expect me to steal or something. One guy takes me back to the shelf to unlock the cage, hands me a breaker bar and says he thought it might be too expensive for me. Despite my entrance, I still almost bought it for 3 times the price of other stores until that comment. I don't know, maybe it's because I have tattoos and piercings and it's a "rustic" place, but it was very inhospitable. I was happier to spend a few hundred dollars at a store that treats everyone like they're a customer and not a nuisance or a criminal.

Nice to support hometown hardware store. Worth the additional pricing to see the same familiar faces who remember you and seem to care.

I've lived in Fairfield a little over a year and was told by the leasing agent for my apartment that this little hardware store would meet most of my needs. I have found that to be so and so much more. I have some mobility issues and some days my legs work and some days not so much. This store will provide curb service. Today I needed triple A batteries; they described the different brands and pack sizes and when I made my choice, they told me to just pull up out front and toot the horn. They came out with my purchase and receipt and I couldn't have been more grateful ~ today the legs aren't working so good, but I was able to get what I needed with no more wear and tear on the old joints. Great store....phenomenal customer service.

This store has fantastic customer service. I don't mean fantastic in today's standards though. To say their level of customer service rates like today's standards for expected levels of customer service would be insulting to the employees of this store. No, I mean they rate at a much higher old School level seldom even imagined by the vast majority of vendors in all industry's today. These guys & gals are all very kind, knowledgeable, helpful & just all around hard working folk who honestly care about the clients. Also since this is such a small store they may not always have "in stock" the particular item you are searching for; but no worries, if they don't they will either order it for you or suggest a local retailer that may have it. Many times I go here to get the quick item I need instead of going to a larger store. The time saved in buying from my local Fairfield Do it Best Hardware, not to mention the savings in fuel costs to go further away off sets the slightly higher prices on some items as well. Overall a great place for most of your household hardware needs.
