This is a probation office.  Most people really wish they weren't on probation.  You are basically literally extorted into taking peobation.  A trial could be costly, and losing, even if you're innocent could be a disaster.  So they make you sign under oath you havent been "coerced" into accepting a plea for probation. Potentially 5 years in prison if you go to trial!  And there absurd conditions you have.  Not leaving the county.  Your civil rights are suspended,  you can be searched for no reason anytime. In a violation hearing you required to incriminate yourself.  My best friend violated his probation for entering an unlocked car at 12:00 pm, and took some "documents".  He's a schitzophrenic.  He got 5 years for a VOP on that crime.  

BUT it is what it is, like it or not.  I gave this 5 stars mainly to make a point.  They're probably about 2, and are overeworked.  Mostly the counselors seem kind, and care.  There are a few as***les (I believe I met two), but that's true everywhere. Your probation officer has TONS of descretion.  Getting violated for being half hour late for an 8am drug test, could her having a head ache.  THEN I was forced to wait 55 minutes, and not allowed to use the restroom.  Physical torture.  To contest this "violation" (This didn't meet the "willful and substantial" criteria ruled on by an appelate court.) I would have had to be arrested,  sit in jail with no bond, and the judge can LITERALLY do anything they want.

But my PO is generally very kind and cares.  The receptionists are very competent and polite, as long as you are.
