This school is great help to the Barbie and ken smart or for anyone who will keep them at an A rate..everyone else is kick back kids, even as late as senior year kicked back to home high school that they never set Foot in! After 10 th if they Stay 11 is all college and not followed by focus, parents no longer in the loop even if our child is 16-17, I regret ever sending him . He got all c in college level and one a,and One d. For most adults independently in college that is passing, but Edison requires all b? Why to make their school look better? It's public charter not private! They should be graded like all schools based. On four years performance . I am proud my jr got c' in college at. 17! He should not be made to feel like a failure by getting sent back to home school. It does not matter they know it's possible, they think it won't happen to me. The education they get. Is all self gained with very little help from some , not all of teachers. The guidance office is really bad, it acts like it is authority for the principle and makes all decisions.I would never send my child again!

Forgive me if I'm a tad biased in my opinion, for I attend this school. Without meaning to be offensive to students of other schools in Charlotte County, FSWC is targeted specifically toward gifted/advanced learners. Education not only goes much faster here, but is also much more challenging than the education of other schools in Charlotte County. As a 9th grader, they start you out "easy." While you are taking classes that are typically meant for sophomores, you have no college classes yet. The way highschool begins here is to show you right away that you can't coast through your classes. As you get into your sophomore year, classes will become more difficult as teachers struggle to prepare you for a college environment. You will also take two college classes, one per semester, to give you a feel of what they're going to be like. THERE IS A LOT OF HOMEWORK. This is necessary to really drill into the students that you can't coast through college. As a junior you transition into all college classes and the grades/academic progress of the student is no longer right at the fingertips of the parents. This is where communication between students and parents is really necessary. Take it from me, as soon as your kid starts struggling, MAKE THEM GO to the Academic Success center for tutoring. They have both weekly tutors and drop-in tutors. It was because of them that I passed chemistry with a B instead of a C. I will let you in on a little secret. Most teachers don't care whether or not you fail their class, they're still getting paid. They will give you help if you ask, but they don't reach out to you like the highschool teachers do. It is because of this that many students fall behind. They are either too afraid to ask for help or think they can handle it on their own. It's only at the end of the semester that they realize they need help, but by then it's too late. FSWC is not for the faint of heart. Most teachers don't care about your situation, or the fact that you're a highschool student. Spring breaks don't line up and your ride is the buses? Too bad, most teachers don't care. They WILL treat you like a college student, because that's what they see. It's only in the most extreme/special of circumstances that they will make an exception. Overall, FSW is a great school. Heck, you get two years of free college and are graduating with your AA. This is an amazing opportunity, but only for those who can handle it. Also, if you have a complicated major (such as a STEM major), be sure to do your research. Often times Academic Advising and Mrs. Foster can be great helps in getting you on the right track for your courses, but I know a lot of people who got high enough test scores to where they could have skipped taking several classes but were not informed about it so they missed the opportunity. Be sure to mention bypassing classes when you talk to your advisor after taking the PERT. Most bypasses are available if you get a 135 on the PERT or higher. Trust me, this can be very helpful, especially if you're trying to get most of your pre-req courses done before you graduate. Like I said, free college! Also, a word of the wise to rising Juniors, DON'T GET STUCK IN THE LOUNGE. It's like being stuck in the Lotus Casino. Just don't do it. Time will go faster than ever. If you're a new FSW student or one looking to come here, congrats! FSW welcomes you.

I thing this school is doing and excellent job and I like that I can e-mail my son's counselor and get a response back that same day. The staff here are really dedicated to helping the kids succeed. One warning, they are hard on the kids (which is what I expect at this level of education.) Even the teachers answer their e-mail. However, their "front desk" needs some help. I called and left a message a month ago asking for someone to call me back right away and no-one ever called back (if they read this, don't worry, I already took care of it). I called looking for information and was promised a call back, and no-one ever called back.
