Fort Walton Beach Medical Center is a 257-bed hospital located in Fort Walton Beach in the panhandle of Northwest Florida. With a medical staff of over 200 physicians, it is the only acute care hospital in the Tri-County area that offers open heart surgery, an Advanced Primary Stroke Center accredited by the Joint Commission, Chest Pain Center and a Cancer Care Center that is accredited by the Commission on Cancer and affiliated with the University of Alabama at Birmingham Cancer Care Network. Fort Walton Beach Medical Center also has a psychiatric treatment center, and advanced care for critically ill patients, including cardiovascular and neonatal intensive care units. In addition to these disease specific services, the Medical Center has emergency services, including a main ER, Pediatric ER and Express Care. Fort Walton Beach Medical Center also operates Destin Emergency Care Center and the Rehabilitation Institute of Northwest Florida, both located on Airport Road in Destin.

Overall good experience! Staff was helpful and willing to provide great care. I was in town on vacation from another state. Could tell that additional staffing could assist the current staff due to the amount of patients received. The staff were very professional and I truly believe this needs to be posted due to the recent poor reviews written.

Over three hour wait (not even the longest we have had to wait before) for my 22 week pregnant wife who was complaining of dizziness and shortness of breath, which after an hour they told us L&D said they would not accept us with no explanation, no explanation as to the wait (was told there was only 1 emergency which was a car crash victim whom they wheeled out to wait in the waiting room with the neck brace on). This hospital is managed and run by the most inefficient staff ever seen, there are some hidden gems that are kind, courteous, and professional but good luck finding them

I called to get some information, but instead the lady pretty much yelled at me and didn't help at all. I've never had worse customer service and will be sure to never step foot in there. I didn't catch the woman's name, but she sounded like she had an English accent. Incredibly rude.

After reading the other reviews prior to writing mine, there really isn't much more I could add, I would just have to agree that this ER is by far the worse I've ever had the misfortune to visit. I'll list a few things for all of you: HIPPA Privacy doesn't exist in this ER. Nurses don't want to do their jobs. This facility (at least in the ER) is unsanitary. The bathroom the patients have to use is extremely gross. The explanation of remodeling the ER, so that patients are everywhere in the halls and against walls is deplorable. Rudeness was common except from one exceptional nurse who was just filling in that day in the ER. Here is the greatest one - Failure to LISTEN TO PATIENT. Don't expect a diagnosis, and if you do, get a second opinion. You are better off going somewhere else. I worked in the medical field for several years, I could not believe the treatment that I received as well as others... After all, by the time you leave you know everything about everyone within walking distance from your uncomfortable stretcher. And the standard automatic response you post on here to people to call and blah, blah... Just keep that to yourself, because "Your striving isn't making any difference"

I'm actually laying here at the ER right now and if the pain in my kidneys weren't so intense that I can't drive I would be gone. The staff is rude and disrespectful. Not everyone is here looking for narcotics. But some pain relief would be nice. I actually feel worse than when I came in this is the worst hospital EVER I never should've came to this hell hole
