AVOID AT ALL COSTS - sloppy treatment of clothes and refusal to own up to or compensate me for damage they caused. I dropped off a black dress with rows of stud-like attachments covering the sleeves. I got back a black dress completely stripped of the studs, with a little baggie with a handful of loose studs stapled to the tag. Besides their sloppy handling of the cleaning, they didn't even point out the mistake to me or apologize when I picked up my cleaning order, instead leaving it to me to discover on my own when I got home and sorted through my items. Did they think I wouldn't notice?! I brought the dress back to them along with a picture of what it originally looked like to discuss what they might do about it. The manager refused to do anything, told an ever-shifting story about whether or not they took special care when cleaning the item and whether or not they meant to point the problem out to me. She refused to compensate me anything for the now-ruined dress, and didn't even offer to reimburse me for the cleaning charges. Unbelievable. I understand that mistakes happen, but the real test is how a business deals with their mistakes to keep a customer happy. A little contrition and willingness to do SOMETHING (anything, even if it didn't completely reimburse me for an expensive item of clothing) would have gone a long way to keep me as a customer instead of arguing and avoiding responsibility.

Took in a pair of pants on the 1st, was supposed to get them back by the 6th. They weren't done on the 6th, so they asked me to come back on the 10th. As a favor to them, I acquiesced. On the 10th, they said they were still not done and asked me to come back on the next day, which was a Sunday. Lo and behold, they are closed on Sundays. I had a 5 AM flight out of DC on the 12th and was going to be gone for a few months. So, in summary: They had the pair of pants that I had dropped off on the 1st and were not, by the 12th, finished with. Which would have been okay, if they were willing to rectify the problem and send them out to me, at whatever speed they chose. They would not. Instead they insisted that I needed to somehow figure out a way to pick them up, so they didn't have to spend the few amount of dollars fixing their own mistake. This is no way to run a business. The expensive nature of this dry cleaners was enough to make us hesitant from the beginning, but after this experience, I am definitely not going to a place who is so utterly unreliable that you may or may not get your pants back. The one on 8th street is MUCH better.
