Story

Already widely known and lauded by Southern Living Magazine and OpenTable.com for its Sunday Brunch, Hotel Galvez & Spa, A Wyndham Grand® Hotel, has made its Galvez Bar & Grill the go-to spot for local seafood and after-work cocktails with the launch of a new menu featuring fresh seafood from Galveston’s Pier 19, steaks and various new bar bites.

Executive Chef Patrick Havard and Food & Beverage Director Marty Miles have tailored the eatery’s new menu to satisfy the restaurant’s popular requests for local, fresh seafood, while adding a touch of classic Texas and Galveston flavors. With seafood at on the top of many guest’s lists, the Galvez Bar & Grill will now offer fresh Gulf Coast fish and shrimp caught by local fisherman and prepared grilled, broiled or blackened.

Beautifully done interior showing the splendor of architectural detailing that makes your stay there all the more enjoyable. 
The piano bar is easy for drinks and lounging around. 
The dining next to the piano may has a nice menu, but is somewhat lacking in what one would expect in seafood dish variety and some exceptional seafood culinary delights. What a shame because, being on the island, that would have been a wonderful treat.

We arrived early and had a drink at the bar. We showed up at the restaurant and were taken to our table immediately. Our waiter was very attentive and efficient throughout dinner, although he was a bit cool and mechanical. The food was very good. We had the seafood Cobb salad, a bowl of gumbo and the fresh market catch of the day. We tried an appetizer of blackened shrimp and crab fondue. Don’t be afraid of the blackened, it is mellowed out in the fondue. In the greater hotel, the ambiance is great, but the restaurant is open to lobby and just seemed a little less intimate.

Great seafood, my wife loved the Gumbo here! We ordered Seafood platter and Swordfish and both were excellent as well! 

On top of the great food, this restaurant is located inside Hotel Galvez, which is well maintained and must see as well! Overall a wonderful dining experience, too bad we weren’t staying at this hotel.

Way too noisy, food is so-so, and horrible putrid pinkish color on the walls like an OBGYN Office or neonatal unit (look at *that* while you’re eating😂). So my tips are...

1) Just get room service. Much better.

2) Go to the weekend brunch buffet! It’s held in the rotunda overlooking the ocean and pool area (not that nasty pink echo chamber😁).
