Went there last night with some local friends. I had the oyster cocktail in a glass and fried oysters for dinner. Everything was great. My friends had the muffalatta which was amazing and others had spaghetti and burgers. Generous potions and everyone raved about there orders. The owner came by several times and shared some jokes with us. 

Lots of fun and well be back for sure.

Burgers are the best in town! Everyone is friendly with quick service. Call drinks are way cheap and this is a great place to bring your friends and family for a pleasant and casual experience.

Interesting place. A bar really, but lots of food options. I had the raw oysters, was served in tall beer mug half full with cocktails sauce, horseradish on top and the oysters swimming in it. They were good, different presentation. I also had the gumbo, only served on fridays, sometimes Saturday. It was good. My daughter for the frito pie, it was great! My wife and son got a burger, I asked when ordering, they said it was homemade, but it obviously was not, was a small thin use to be frozen patty. They had pool, shuffle board, and a pinball machine. The games and meeting the owner were the best part. Probably won't go back but glad I went once.

The waitress is not friendly. A simple "hello", "you"re welcome", "thank you" would be nice. Some food items are delicious and others are just horrible. The chilli cheese hot dogs are generally good as long as the kitchen doesn't over microwave the hot dog bun and turn it in to a brick. The Muffaletta sandwich is great but i recommend not having it heated or your sandwich bun may become a brick. The burgers are good. I tried Grandma Theresa's spaghetti which the menu claims the recipe has been handed down for 100's of years. That's one recipe they need to lose. The spaghetti was awful and very dry with no sauce. I'm guessing it was over heated in the microwave and well on its way to becoming a brick.

Thankfully, a word--of-mouth spot (best advertising there is,) frequented by local islanders, away from the tourist-beaten traps. Family recipes like yo momma used to make. If you didn't like momma's hamburgers & shrimp gumbo, you won't like Sonny's.
