There are not enough words to explain how wonderful this dining experience was… from the free parking to the friendly greeting at the door to the clean environment and amazing staff. Crystal went above and beyond to make sure we had not only an enjoyable but also memorable experience. And now for the FOOD!!! Some of the best Fried Chicken I’ve ever had and the Cabbage was so fresh! The Macaroni & Cheese was light and airy and full of flavor! The Blueberry Cornbread with blueberry butter was a nice spin on a tradition fave. Highly recommend this be a stop whenever you are in the Savannah area … even driving through!
I’m southern born and raised with the expectation that soul food/comfort food must meet a certain standard. Well, Geneva’s Fried Chicken & Cornbread Co., you met the mark and then some!!! This was our first time eating here and it won’t be our last! Good news: They have options to meet where you are in your food journey. For us today, we craved good old fashioned chicken like it’s Sunday dinner. Check ‘em out when you are in Savannah. They won’t disappoint! Be blessed!
STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND GO EAT HERE!!!! Mrs. Geneva makes the absolute best fried chicken, greens, mac n cheese, potato wedges, corn bread, and everything else that comes out of her kitchen. My soul and tummy are so happy. I'm in a literal food coma. I can cook but I've never tasted food this good. It's heaven earth. The staff is friendly and the service is amazing. I wish I could give them a billion stars!!!
My husband and I wanted to experience a true southern meal while we were visiting Savannah. We also wanted to go somewhere a bit more local feeling, not so touristy. Enter: Geneva's! I'll just start by saying: I still dream about this meal and I low key want to move to Savannah so I can eat there whenever I want. Everything about our experience there was wonderful. Our server was Geneva's daughter and she was so wonderful + made us feel so welcomed! Geneva herself was in the back making all the food. It made everything feel so much more personal! Each meal comes with 1 side and a mini cornbread loaf I got Mac and cheese with mine and my husband got collard greens with his but we wanted to try a bit of all the things. So we ordered 2 more separate sides: yams and gumbo. And banana pudding for dessert! The food came out piping hot + fresh. I don't normally like chicken with bones in it, but I got the fried bird meal because it just felt right and I was OBSESSED. The outside was perfectly crispy and beautifully flavored. The chicken inside was so juicy and soft and perfect. The yams were our favorite side...seriously so incredible. I mean literally everything we got was wonderful. And the prices were SO great. This was our favorite meal we got when we were in Savannah, and we got everything for under $50. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Go to Geneva's!! And if you want a guaranteed table right away, get there a couple mins before opening. It fills up fast!
Chicken was filled with taste and flavor, seasoned to perfection. The corn bread was soft and sweat, just put a little butter on it and you'll be sent to heaven with the delightful smell and taste. The presentation was what first got me hooked, I didn't want mess it. I would 100% come back to Geneva's during another wonderful trip to Savannah.
OMG! CHILE! COME HERE! The chicken is amazing. Tender, cooked just right. The Broccoli Apple slaw is absolutely stunning. Corn bread that is tender and moist. The pork chop special was just that, special, and 'the mistake cake', was no mistake at all. We might just be back again tomorrow. Special thanks to our wonderful server, Walker. She's great! And... We went back again the next day. Had another great experience. Food, conversations, Service. Our server Crystal was fantastic.
We wanted southern soul food while visiting Savannah. Amazing food, feels so homey in this place. We got the 4 piece which is cooked to order and turkey wing special! We also took home a piece of the sweet potato pie and pear cake. Will be back to order take out and bring some back home.
The fried turkey wings with squash casserole was delicious with no complaints. The New Orleans rice was cooked perfectly and seasoned awesomly. The gumbo was a little under seasoned. The Fried chicken not shown below was cooked perfectly but it was slightly under seasoned. However they had a special barbecue sauce that made it delicious also. The cornbread was some of the best I have ever had. I can recommend the original or the pecan it will not disappoint.
The BEST fried chicken & cornbread!!! This is truly a local gem. Geneva is a delight, we came in at the end of the night around 6.30-ish on Sunday night, & were seated at a table near who we now know is Geneva herself, one amazing woman & we were in great company to say the least! Her family works along side her. We had great conversations with Geneva & her family. Can wait to come back again!
So, for the first time ever I had to go home and really ponder on a restaurant. I understand and empathize with some things that most people do not when it comes to restaurants because it's my passion as well. Anyways, also for the first time ever I knew what I wanted to order before I walked in I've been contemplating on coming here for a month now. Unfortunately the server tripped as soon as the gun sounded to start the race and I knew it would be a uphill battle. We had a 10-15 minute wait once we were seated, she forgot the drink order and had to come back and ask then still got it wrong I didn't complain tables were sat after us and because she was behind the guy at the front counter came to help her. Unfortunately he took the orders of two tables that came in after us and then didn't even come to our table instead he went back to the front to help the other customers I didn't complain too much but I did go up there and mention it to him politely. There were problems with the payment machine as well and that held time for hostage. Honestly I wasn't upset I just saw simple things that could've been done to make this operation move more smoothly so I was wishing that I had my apron. I kept telling my friend and reassuring myself that the food would be worth it in the end. I ordered the two piece, dark meat $8.99 that comes with a mini loaf of your choice and a small side. I also added on a side of Yama $4.75 and a side of greens $4.99 the price of the sides were a little shocking. I got the sweet tea as well and it was easy like Sunday morning :- In all honesty the chicken was some of the best I've ever had at a restaurant, it was juicy while it was hot, when it cooled down and after I microwaved it. You can honestly taste the love in this chicken all the way to the seasoned bone! Greens are always my favorite side but I always get Mac and yams as well because I believe that all three combined make the perfect bite. This is the first time that the yams were a favorite of mine, they were perfect. The greens weren't bad especially after mixing it with the cornbread/spice and the Mac fell short for me but once I ate them all together I was in food Heaven none the less. There's a reason why it's called Geneva's Famous Chicken and Cornbread. The chicken will have you coming back for sure! I'm sorry for the long review but I've thought about Geneva's Chicken everyday since I had it, all of the problems before the food came vanished and I will be back this week to get it again and to try the pound cake because I was too full and forgot.
