I walked in and the food caught my eyes first. The macaroni looked dry and that made me nervous because it's an important factor in soul food for me. I questioned the fried chicken and waited the 15 minutes to receive it fresh. I felt like the woman serving the food was nice nasty. Let me explain, she was a bit short even with the other customers and she didn't listen. I repeated myself more than once and so did a couple other customers. I asked her, “which one is better your sweet tea or lemonade?” they mention on the menu that they’re handmade and homemade She responded, “I mean it’s just a tea bag and it’s just country time lemonade” her lack of enthusiasm made me not get a drink at all. Anyways, The Mac surprisingly tasted way better than it looked, the yams came in second place but did have a bit too much cinnamon reminding me more of sweet potato pie but the collard greens which has been my favorite since birth was the biggest disappointment. The cornbread was dry thus it sitting out so long and I had high hopes for the fried chicken but the flavor fell short to me. After taking a bite of each side Kenneth came down the stairs through the door and I recognized his picture from Yelp. I asked him was he the owner and also asked could I trade all these sides back in for a side of rice and gravy. He asked me what was wrong but gladly exchanged my food and gave me a slice of pound cake on the house after apologizing more than once. He came out and made small talk with me while he ate and then I tried the pound cake.... THE POUND CAKE!!! ...It took me back to my grandmas kitchen table and flooded my heart with a child like sensation. My eyes started to form the happy tears and at that moment Kenneth and the pound cake saved the day for me. So while I don't know if Sisters of the New South is better than Genevas I will say that I had a special moment at both of these establishments. I'll definitely be back during the start of their lunch hours to see if the taste hits different because I really want to give 5-stars for Kenneth and the pound cake alone!!!
Not a big country food eater but the food was good. The young lady behind the counter was nice and laughed at my jokes. This was the first time I tasted mustard based BBQ. It was a treat. The ribs were teander and tasty. I had the corn bread and macncheese. Both were good. They has wide selection of food. Sweet to was good. Brought home some peace cobbler and it was a treat.
My husband and I was craving some good vegetables and I being a google person and loving to try new foods found Sisters. I am so glad that I did. The place is small but, packed with great flavor. We knew once we saw the crowd that we were at the right place. Once I saw “auntie “ come from the back I felt like I was back home. I had the hamburger steak patty, with cabbage and mac and cheese and collards WITH a slice nice size slice! so if I dose off to sleep, it’s not my fault ‍ . I would have given them 5 stars but I came for the fried chicken they only had dark meat and I only eat wing’s and hubby likes breast. Thank you all again. I also liked how the “youngins” were working the front… great work ethics.
This is a quaint spot that serves good food. The chicken was nice and juicy and their cabbage and greens on point. The ribs was such a treat..sweet and tender in every bite. Definitely want to try their oxtails next time. Parking: Limited but free
The cabbage had a floral flavor to it. Mac and cheese was very dry. Mashed potatoes were good. The dark meat fried chicken didn't have much flavor. Best part was the corn bread. I dont usually like corn bread but this was really good.
Food was horrible... at best. My sister and I were both disappointed. We spent more time discussing with the family next to us our shared disgust. Six people and four states represented at those two tables and nobody enjoyed their meal. 85% of the meals were discarded. The fried chicken was dry, the smothered turkey was flavorless, the Mac and cheese was weird, the yams were definitely canned, the gravy tasted like some type of paste like substance and the greens were not good. The service wasn't all that hot either. One lady touched money then turned right around and touched food. If I'm ever in Savannah again, I'll be sure to go elsewhere!
Worst soul food I have ever had! Mac and cheese was weird and nasty, greens were bland straight out of a can, mashed potato’s and gravy was soupy mush. Chicken was the only thing worth eating.
We ate here after our Freedom Trail Tour with Johnny Brown. He suggested this place for a good southern meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. 3 of us ate for $52 and that included cake and peach cobbler but no beverages. We ordered fried chicken, yams, cabbage, Mac n chz, greens and cornbread in all 3 meals. One has cabbage but no greens. The establishment is a little old maybe historical idk but nothing fancy. Friendly people.
This is the same people who do the Grilled Cheese Society address and phone number match. Shout out to google for helping me figure this out. There was literal plastic shoved in my grilled cheese. I literally pulled out plastic. I feel so sick. That’s disgusting. I have reported this to the Chatham Co. The tomato soup looks like oil and there is what I am assuming is collard greens in the Mac and cheese. I’m disgusted. Uber Eats has been contacted about them working under two different names. This place needs to be shut down. Not to mention, our poor Uber eats driver said they forgot my drink they actually forgot a sandwich too and he went to Sonic to get me one and paid for it with his own money. We heavily compensated him. The Uber driver also confirmed this is where he picked up the food.
I’m upset about the food I ordered today at Sisters of the new south. I ordered fried salmon and shrimp with sweet potatoes and mac and cheese. As you can see from the pictures, my salmon was way over the cooked. My salmon resembles chicken. It had no seasoning at all. Moving on to the sides, my mac and cheese were warmed up in the microwave, and I know for a fact because they were out of mac and cheese in the front of the restaurant. Lastly, my sweet potatoes were dry and mixed with pineapples. I spent a total of 31 dollars on horrible food, not to mention I had to wait for over 40 minutes for my food, and the restaurant was not busy at all. I am very disappointed in this company.
