I came there on comedy night and paid 15 dollars at the door.  I sat alone and waited for the show to start.  A hundred passes by ten waiters went pass an no one greeted me, offered me a menu or a drink.  But the mutual admiration society rolled on.

I finally went to the bar and ordered a glass of wine by myself.  I tipped well and went back to my spot.  The glass was chipped and I nearly cut my lip.  But the mutual admiration society was a spectacle to behold.

I brought the glass of wine back to the bartender and showed it to him.  He went catatonic, and I could literally not get a response from him.  He just froze and would not speak, respond, move or anything.

Finally, after just too weird a vibe, and no help from the management, I left, never to return.

I sent a review by email to their website, and got a call from the general manager offering to treat me and my guest to an evening on the house.

After an experience that terrible?  Are you kidding, I asked him.  This is Marin.  We pay more for the quality and the service.  It is incumbent upon you to get it right the first time.

If you are fragile and insecure, go here and join the mutual admiration society and remain inauthentic.  If you wish more, go to D' Angelo's in Mill Valley or 44 and even Buck's is not awful and be pleased with what your money will bring you.

This place is a wash.  I will never go there, nor even perform there.

Update:  Thankfully, this hack of an operation closed its doors not long after it opened, and the cultural, as well as bar service scene for Marin is all the better for it.

If you're used to the Downtown San Rafael area you will quickly realize this is a gem of a spot for all demographics to hangout, socialize, mingle, ect. Keep it professional without all the other bullshit and you'll have a good time.

We saw Sarah and Vinnie, and it was so crowded you couldn't breathe.  You couldn't get a waiter's eye, even jumping up and down at the bar, and there was no toilet paper in the ladies room.  After about 10 minutes (main act had not started yet) we asked for our money back and they told us they'd only sold 290 tickets and they were licensed for 293, and there was still a little room on the dance floor so he refused to refund us. I guess the fact that all 290 people were focused in half the area assigned to 293 didn't occur to him. 
Good news is that we left and went to Peri's in Fairfax, where Djiin was playing and it was awesome! Fairfax any day - I'm not going back to Georges...
