Taking the coach verses paying more for the formal car was perfect for us. The ride was short enough and the relaxed environment of being able to move around without feeling like you were bothering others was great for the little ones. I so appreciated that even though the tickets were "sold out", the Georgetown Loop Railroad staff didn't overbook the amount of people for each trip. A very comfortable and enjoyable experience! Would do it again!

This short sunny day trip was a great addition to the family gathering holidays. It's fun to be out there in the sun when it's sunny, but I bet can get pretty cold on a cloudy day. The train ride is mostly on open-aired cars. You can choose your trip, get off at stations, but enjoy the ride the whole time. It's definitely a family friendly place, there is no smoking at all on the premises. So just enjoy the scenery.

Ton of fun, especially the Christmas time train through the lit forest. Great scenery, experience, and employees. During the Christmas event they have free chestnuts, cookies, and hot chocolate. Santa comes through all of the train cars and they give little bells to all the children. Lots of other things to do in Georgetown as well.

This was a nice last minute surprise for our kids and one that I think the parents will remember more. We were in Denver coming from Nebraska early for a wedding. We decided to find something to do with our kids where we would actually be in the mountains. We decided to try the Georgetown Loop as the drive was short from Denver and it would give our kids an opportunity to see mountains up close. We have two boys, 4 and 2 years old, so we knew seeing a steam engine would be a big deal for them. We just did the train ride, no mine tours as our kids were under the age limit, but it was perfect. We were able to drive up in about an hour and 10 minutes, which was easy with all of the scenery heading up the mountain. The train ride is actually about right in length of time, about an hour and 20 minutes, which is about all the time we have before a 2 year old gets restless. The staff was friendly, the mountains were beautiful, and if coming from Denver area, it is a perfect day trip, where you can drive up, ride the train, and get home in no time. If you have extra time, check out the city of Georgetown. There isn't a whole lot there, but it is like being taken back in time. There are historical buildings and houses that have been preserved all over the town from the 1870's and 1880's. I would recommend taking a blanket or two. We all had on long sleeves and coats but decided to bring a couple of blankets along the for the ride which were a blessing. It gets chilly in the open air rail cars with the wind.

1 hour trip to total. Presidential car is pretty tight. Super friendly staff and great Santa. Felt short for the price, but overall had a good time.
