I loved the view, the history and the lessons to be learned from Leadville. There isn't to much to brag about in Leadville, no Hilton's or big fancy 1%'er getaways, but the people are wonderful... and, when it comes down to it, isn't that really all that matters?

Great educational activity to learn about Colorado mining. Beautiful views from the railroad as you hug the mountain side on the historical locomotive. Offer a military discount. Railroad tour guide shares plentiful knowledge on your way up the mountain. Well-kept bathrooms. Gift Shop was small but stocks local artisan merchandise.

This is a fun and enjoyable way to spend a few hours. The train takes a route up along the mountains overlooking the Arkansas River valley and is very scenic. It goes up about 500 feet in elevation and about 9.5 miles, stops for a few minutes at a water tower and then returns the same route. Trip takes about 2.5 hours.

Beautiful. this was a wonderful experience. It snowed when we were there. I would live to go back and did the Fall excision and take pictures of the leaves.

Beautiful ride on the train. sat down at the downhill side open area (need a hat+ sunblock and a light jacket) and enjoyed it. you might get a bit tired as the ride takes about 3 hours but it is still fun.
