Gilbert is a great town to live in but unfortunately this police department is extremely corrupt. Officer Johnson is one of the bad bad apples. It’s a shame. Cops like him are the reason people don’t trust the police and he ruins it for the cops that are honest.

These humans are incredible! We had an apartment fire in our neighborhood and they responded in less than 3 minutes! They were helpful and calm and even gave stickers to the little kids that were scared. They were amazing!

I had called Gilbert Police Department to ask a question. The young lady took my number and said that she would have an officer call me back. Within 5 minutes I got a call back and the officer was so nice and very helpful and was glad I called and had asked what to do instead of reacting. The only thing I wish more of is that they patrolled my neighborhood more especially during the time when school is let out. Other then that I think Gilbert Police Department is good.

I am really disappointed with officers in Gilbert. I live in a terrible apartment complex that I am thankfully moving out of next month; however, anytime severe problems go on such as threats of violence from intoxicated individuals, drugs, domestic violence calls, etc. It is ALWAYS the same 3 cops that come to our complex. I don't understand how the same police officers can be sent for different occasions and there is never anything done. Especially when children are present. Unfortunately, all the kids have witnessed is terrible people doing terrible things and the police officers come for 5 minutes, record your statement, do not ask for witnesses, and they leave.None is ever leaving in handcuffs. I have never heard of police officers not following up with you after you report something. Every time the same police officers come to the complex and their demeanor is as if their time is being wasted. It is too bad we teach our children violence and drugs are not the answer and when you're in danger you call the police they will help you and multiple occasions they have shown children that when you call the police nothing is done. The situation is not rectified. If someone is calling for harassment it would be nice for a police officer to let us know what our rights are and what we can do, but instead they leave after reports and never follow up. We had no idea if the police left or if they were still here. How can you not follow up with the person making the report before you take off. It appears Gilbert police are only concerned about traffic violations and are too concerned with their own safety than taking care of citizens. I have always taught my daughter to trust in police they will protect you and the same 3 officers have done nothing at location Guadalupe and Gilbert Country Villa Apartments. So there is no more calling the police in Gilbert. They have a terrible demeanor to people and they are quick to put everyone in the same basket. We try to realize they are human beings and have families, but one would think if that is the case they would help in situations children are involved. My daughter asked me "how come the police officers never help us". My response is, the criminals are always the ones protected it seems like. They have more rights than those of us who follow the law. Unfortunately before we moved here we were told oh gilbert police officers do two things : Direct Traffic and pop people for traffic violations. I didn't want to believe that, but it has been proven time and time again.

I'm basing my experience off what I read and what I learn from law enforcement in other cities when the Gilbert PD is called to help. In Phoenix, they had a big sting operation going on with a major drug cartel and the case was lose because the Gilbert cops didn't do their job right so the guy walked on a life sentence so he can get out and sell more dope. A Mesa detective was pulled over by a Gilbert cop for a tail light being out. The Mesa detective had a machine gun sitting on the passenger seat and reeked of whiskey he poured on himself while he was doing a sting operation on a meth lab in Mesa. The Gilbert cop didn't do anything to protect himself, just told him about his taillight, asked if he had anything to drink and walked away. The rest of these comments are correct. Some will go out of their way a little bit but most of them only care about traffic violations. It seems to be all they were trained to do.
