Place is absolutely fantastic , best donut I've had in my life. Has a handful of tables and also serves hot coffee. Been here with my daughter and she's always gotten a free donut. Great place

If you have brown or black skin, beware.  Based on my experience, the adult male owner will have no problem shouting at you, and telling you not to return to his business. 
That is what happened to me. One afternoon I went to Granny Donuts, and tried to purchase a few donuts. When the owner saw me, a young colored person, take out my credit card, he said to me in a rather harsh voice, “We only accept cash!” I then explained in a polite tone that I didn’t have cash, and that I would have to return. The owner then proceeded to yell at me and said “No, don’t come back!” I was perplexed and mystified as to why he was so hostile towards me without a valid reason. I went to Granny Donuts to purchase not steal.  When I left the shop, it dawned on me that as a brown colored man, the owner likely perceived me as an inferior person not worthy of being treated with respect and dignity and maybe even a "thug". It’s sad that this type of racism still occurs. Based on this humiliating experience, I will never return to Granny Donuts.

I have been going to Granny's Donuts for a couple years now.    They always have a great selection in the mornings.    While yes, the owner is a little snipity,  they are the best donuts in town.

They only take cash, no card.  And, while they might be a little over priced, the quality is 100x better than something you would get at Super America or Cub Foods.

I will continue to purchase from this place, no matter what anyone posts about the rude service, or so they say.

I've sampled from many Twin Cities donut shops (Glam Doll, Bogart's, Baker's Wife, Mel-O-Glaze, Puffy Cream) and while I've never truly met a donut I didn't like, Granny Donuts makes the best. My comparator is always the raised glazed. Granny has warm, fresh, yeasty raised donuts with the perfect amount of glaze. The owners are just the sweetest and the donuts are worth more than they cost. Definitely worth the trip.

A staple in West St Paul for doughnuts. Great shop that has been serving customers for ages. Doughnuts do not disappoint. It is cash only, so don't expect to bring a card to pay
