This new and refined inn is the perfect getaway from reality. It has been completely transformed with taste. I loved my stay here and felt very welcomed. The best kept secret to this place are Alyssa and Pam who TEND TO YOUR EVERY NEED.

In a word, the guy running this joint should forget the "semi" in semi-retirement as much as he's forgotten the "breakfast" in bed & breakfast. Rooms are charming, but the one we got was crawling with ants. The owner neglected to tell us that there was a wedding party Saturday night. Not that the music was bad, but unless you're paying extra to feel like the party is next to your bed, I'm sure there are better choices. Which brings us to the breakfast. There are plenty of fine chain hotels that do a good Continental. If you insist on a hot breakfast, well there's the microwave. Expect the same at Silvermine. It is a very intriguing 200 year old building, and it's a shame to see the restaurant by now long gone and the service falling into disrepair like the roof over the porch. I might come back if I get news that the Silvermine is restored to silver-rush glory. But no sooner.

CREEPY & BAD BREAKFAST! I stayed one night at the Silvermine a couple of years ago. They put me in the small house adjacent to the main building. I had to take some really steep stairs to go to my room. Felt like being in a wooden dollhouse. With my luggage it was super difficult going up and dangerous coming down. There were noises at night (like radio sound and someone walking in the attic or up the stairs). The next day I was told that I was the only one in that house. WELL THAT WAS CREEPY!!! THEN THE BREAKFAST WAS RIDICULOUSLY BAD. THERE WAS HARDLY ANYTHING TO EAT!!! STICKY BUNS THAT DIDN'T LOOK FRESH, TOASTS, YOGURT, BANANA AND TEA/COFFEE THAT'S IT!!! NOBODY AROUND TO COME AND SERVE....
