This is a backpackers dream destination. But be aware that there are very few amenities, even for backpacker basics. It is also one of the last Dark Skies locations left in the continental US. So you may want to time your adventure to coincide with a new moon. Then you can see the Milky Way like you've never seen it before.

Wow! Beautiful park! The trails take you to incredible spots. Campgrounds are very well kept and the cave tour was incredible! Great rangers

We went on the Timber Creek/South Baker Fork loop on a Saturday in November. We saw almost nobody on the trail, even though many other sections of the park were difficult to get to because of winter road closures. So if you are looking for some seclusion in nature, this park can probably give it to you. We also went on the Lehman cave tour. The mineral formations in the cave are fantastic, and the ranger was informative and entertaining. Well worth the small fee.

I have been here three times with my son. Great isolated park. You feel like you have the entire park to yourself regardless of the season. One of the best places in the entire U.S. to see the stars.

A great park to visit for a couple days. Very small, but it was good for a 2 night camping trip. The high elevation is no joke, and it's a desert environment - cold at night and warm during the day. We went mid-September and camped at Upper Lehman Falls. Nice campground, but I would probably go lower in elevation for early fall. It was too cold at night for us.
