Animal Care is an open admission, full service animal shelter that takes in 18,000 - 20,000 per year! To combat the pet overpopulation problem in our community, we have developed a variety of services to help people help animals, including: pet adoption, spay-neuter and low-cost vet care, volunteering, foster care, rescue services, lost & found, and much more! I loved how the supervisor was so open with everything they did there. They did not try to hide anything and made it very clear what their intentions were. It was a clean facility, wonderful staff- if I could give 10 stars, I would. She gave us so much information on not only pets, but how we would be able to help out.

The fine people at the Greenville County Animal Clinic cared for my precious kitty Chuckie for years. He was 16 years old when he had to go to the other end of the rainbow. Dr. Cooley, Barbara, Michelle, and the entire staff obviously loves and cares for all animals. They treat animals the way we humans would like to be treated! It is very obvious that they all are compassionate animal lovers.

I found a dog laying by the road and contacted a foster home who was willing to take him, but I was told to put him at Furman Hall first. If he wasn't adopted within 10 days, Furman Hall agreed to notify me. I worked out of town and called them 2 times. They wouldn't return my calls. I called again and they answered. I gave them the number on my documentation and they said that they didn't have that number or record of my dog. Very cold atmosphere and people.

Beautiful facility, clean and wonderful staff! Very upbeat and happy to answer questions and help in any way they can. We did not feel rushed at all, took our time and found the perfect new pup to add to our family! Adopted him same day and brought him home!

The place has improved greatly since last time I went there as a kid in the early 90's. I was really impressed with how much the staff cares about the animals. 

One thing to be aware of, if you're planning on adopting that day and you have other dogs, you need to bring them with you. They want the new one to meet your current dogs on neutral ground, for the safety of them all. We were unaware of this, and we live an hour away, one way. I challenged the staff member regarding this significant inconvenience to our time and fuel, which would mean a total of four hours on the road in one day if we wanted this dog. She remained firm on the requirement, and responded carefully and tactfully to my challenge. I can respect that, and I would have thought less of her if she had caved. It means that she is more dedicated to her duties in trying to find the right homes for these animals, than she was concerned about anything I might say or do. 

To be honest, based on my interaction with them as a child, I did not expect to find this level of dedication here. They changed my perception of what they're doing here.
