Greyhound: Bus Station

Story

Downtown Albuquerque is the central business district of Albuquerque, New Mexico. It is where a large number of the city's highrise buildings are located, as well as being the center of government and business for the region.Downtown is roughly defined as the area between Marble Avenue, Coal Avenue, Sixth Street, and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks. The area on the east side of the railroad tracks is known as East Downtown or EDo.Street gridDowntown Albuquerque is laid out in a standard grid pattern, with numbered north-south streets and named east-west avenues. Central Avenue (originally known as Railroad Avenue) is the main east-west thoroughfare through the center of Downtown, while Lomas Boulevard (originally New York Avenue) is a major east-west arterial through the north part of downtown. The streets start with First Street just west of the railroad tracks and increase in number moving westward. Fourth Street was originally the main north-south thoroughfare through Downtown but today it is discontinuous, interrupted by Civic Plaza and a two-block pedestrian mall north of Central. Since these developments took place Second Street has been the main north-south street through downtown.Fourth Street through downtown Albuquerque was part of U.S. Route 66 prior to the route's 1937 realignment. Afterwards, Route 66 ran along Central Avenue until its decommissioning.DistrictsDowntown Albuquerque is divided into six official districts, which are identified by a unified system of signage and icons.

This place is rough. There were homeless sleeping outside the station. Very shady people on the bus. The buses were old and worn out and very very uncomfortable. Very crowded and smelled awful the whole trip. The bus drivers was professional but the buses make awful time in my experience they take twice as long as driving a car. I would not recommend sending kids on these buses and i would recommend search for airline tickets as they can be very similar in price on some of the shorter trips. In the end you get what you pay for but greyhound is like worst case scenario for travel it would probably be better and safer to just hitch hike.

I've spent a lot of time in greyhound terminals and the staff here by far was the nicest. You guys really made what could have been a really stressful experience lovely. Thanks to Marissa Perez (?) for helping me out with a last minute ticket change so I could make my night bus! You guys rock :)

I rode Greyhound from Alamogordo to El Paso then on to Albuquerque with a stop in Las Cruces. First time riding a bus in many, many years. The Albuquerque terminal is much nicer than the El Paso terminal although both offer decent waiting areas with TVs and WiFi. The terminals in Alamogordo and Las Cruces are co-located with gas station/convenience stores. The buses are okay, nothing special but do have functional wifi. The buses can be a bit smelly but its not from the bus, its from some of the passengers. I experienced no delay issues, all buses left on time. One bus was full. Noise can be an issue so if you want quiet bring ear plugs. Both bus drivers I dealt with were friendly and helpful. Same with employees at the terminals. No complaints. One has to remember this mode of travel is likely to have more issues than other public transportation options so patience and tolerance are a must. Yeah, you will meet some strange folks but most travelers are fine people.

It was may second time riding with Greyhound and on both time the night bus got cancelled. So I had to spend the night at the bus terminal. The only thing they gave us was a few bucks eating voucher. Also when I suggested that the night bus is more expensive then the morning bus, they were not able to give me a refund of this difference. In generally I absolutely don't recommend Greyhound they are always running late and the buses are very old with zero comfort.

Bought a night bus ticket from Albuquerque to Las Cruces, showed up got on the bus and thought it would be alright we got 30 minutes out when the bus broke down. They sent a mechanic out, then they sent for a part, then they said a new bus would come pick us up in an hour, no bus showed up. We were on the side of the road for almost four hours, when finally they fixed it enough to go back to the station the driver said we would get a new bus and continue the trip, we get to the station at 11pm and they said the new bus wouldn't be there until 4 am. If you can find any other way to get where you are going take the other way, do NOT take the bus! All these bad reviews are the truth. I read the reviews and thought it couldn't be that bad.. I was wrong.
