Story

Guthrie Cleaners was established in 1928 by J.C. Guthrie at the original location 1800 N. Congress Ave. Guthrie Cleaners has a long and proud history and has always been a family owned and operated business.

In 1945 at just 17 years old, J.C Guthrie's son, Pal, opened a second location on San Jacinto Street, just north of the University of Texas campus. Throughout the years, family members have opened multiple locations across Central Texas and Austin. Today, the main location is located on Cameron Road with two other locations owned by Pal's son, Garry, in Hutto and Taylor. The Cameron Road location is managed by Pal’s daughter, Kelly, and staffed by his grandson, Austin Milum.

Guthrie Cleaners has been known for quality work since 1928, which remains true today. Our Dry Cleaning is all done using a petroleum solvent, which sets us apart from many other local Dry Cleaners. Many Dry Cleaner's use a Synthetic Solvent, which is proven to be harsher on clothing during the process. Each garment is then spotted, steam pressed, and touched up by hand.

Guthrie Cleaners provides both Dry Cleaning and Laundry services.

Laundry includes: Jeans, Khakis, Cotton Button-up shirts, Fabrics (i.e. curtains, tablecloths, comforters…restrictions may apply)

Dry Cleaning includes: Most Dry Clean Only Items, Dresses, Blouses, Suits, Ties, Pants.

We also can facilitate the cleaning of your Bridal Gown. We offer cleaning before the ceremony and after the ceremony. We can also box and preserve your gown.
