As DC’s only Japanese market, we carry fresh vegetables, frozen and prepared food, and ingredients you need to prepare your favorite Japanese meals. We also carry fresh Sushi and rice balls everyday, no sushi on Mondays, no rice balls on Tuesdays. Stop by on Thursdays to take advantage of deliveries of fresh organic Japanese vegetables from LA and world-famous Japanese bread from New York City. We also have a wide variety of hard-to-find, yet reasonably priced, Japanese rice, soy sauces, teas, snacks and candies for you to try. Our staff is here to answer any questions you may have. Beautiful little Japanese market. Well stocked and well staffed. They pretty much have everything you think you might need to make an authentic Japanese meal. Plus the prices are very competitive.

It's a tiny space filled with both fresh and packaged goods that are not available elsewhere in the neighborhood. Produce can be limited in total items, but the quality is really great on what they carry. Prices are really good here, some of the items that are also carried in local supermarkets can be half the price at Hanna. Shop local!

Cramped but excellent selection of japanese groceries. They offer hard-to-find Asian produce and homemade onigiri.

Amazing! The only authentic Japanese grocery store in the DC area that I know of. Walking into this place is like being transported to Kanagawa. Although it is small, it is packed with authentic, traditional Japanese food. Their Japanese produce includes gobo (burdock root), shishito (sesame leaf), maitake, eryngi, and shimeji mushrooms, tsukemono (pickles), etc. In the frozen section, you can find fish for sushi, squid and cuttlefish, dried fish, natto (fermented soy beans), prepared foods like dumplings, you can even get tobiko and the elusive uni (sea urchin roe). Their dry stores yield perhaps the most rewarding of treasures. While they have a variety of rice, a staple of Japanese cuisine, a variety of ramen, soba and udon noodles can also be found. No Japanese meal would be complete without miso soup. They carry an assortment of prepackaged soup mixes and ingredients to make it from scratch (kombu, bonito flakes and miso). They also have almost everything you need to make nabe, oden and Japanese curry. Soy sauce, spices, mirin, vinegar and yuzu juice round out their merchandise for the cooking enthusiast. Otsumami (pub snacks) occupy an entire shelf and they have another shelf dedicated to non-japanese Asian food, and also have Japanese yakimono (pottery) including cooking pots and serving dishes. I cannot enthuse enough about this place. And, of course, it's a small business so I highly endorse it! Check it out. (Pics to follow)
