My husband and I went in to see if Harpswell auto could help us get in a new vehicle.. not only did they help us out with one but we ended up leaving with TWO they were able to get me in a newer SUV and get my husband into a truck (something no other dealership could do!) all the guys were amazing (yes even you Matt 🤣😂) and we will continue going here for all our vehicle needs!! I just purchased a truck from these guys and they were excellent to deal with. They worked hard to get the financing done and put me in a vehicle I wanted. Wolves in sheeps clothing. I bought a 2008 Dodge Nitro from them in April of 2017. I was using it to build credit among other things and while it definitely wasn't my first choice, I was assured by Dana that "It was virtually the same thing as a Jeep Liberty." By June of that year the ABS anti-slip had failed, causing the vehicle to be able to move no faster than 10 miles an hour if the system randomly engaged. After having the issue fixed twice by August I finally went back to Harpswell Auto Sales and asked them to take the vehicle back. I was told that the finance company wouldn't allow me to take the vehicle back and that unfortunately I would be stuck with it through the winter, "but it'll have the 4x4 which you'll appreciate." After getting through the winter with the ABS system acting up again, a poor 4X4 system, 2 oil leaks and a tire pressure sensor failure (all of which were fixed at least 2 times each) I contacted them again in February because I could no longer drive the vehicle without feeling like it was seriously dangerous (I also have an infant daughter). They then ran only one type of credit score, told me I didn't have enough data to report, despite telling me when I first bought the vehicle that I could easily trade it in after right around a year if I made all the payments on time . They also encouraged me to hang on to the vehicle and continue to bring it in for repairs. After making a phone call to the finance company I found out the truth--I could've easily restructured the deal, they deal with that sort of thing all the time and that they would be more than willing to accept my tax return as a down payment on another vehicle. I have since bought a vehicle from another dealership in Augusta. Come to find out I have a very high credit score and they weren't surprised when they heard who I bought my Nitro from and as to what happened. A good majority of those 5 star reviews on here are from people who have just bought vehicles and are still in the "honeymoon" stage. Pay attention to all the people who have given the much later reviews, you'll see there's plenty more horror stories. My advice is to stay FAR away from this place. Good luck.
