Wonderful birding and nature trails. My husband and I have been birding at Heard for many years and the trails never disappoint. It's lovely to see so much habitat preserved and lovingly tended. A real gem in our suburban world.

When doing special even please have the hours of operation reflect according so people don't drive 2 hrs round trip for nothing.

Here for the dinosaur walk.. Kids had a blast. Great place for hiking.

There are very few pieces of nature left in McKinney. The Heard is a great place to experience nature. With numerous environments on site - wetlands, forests, prairie - and one of the highest points in Collin County, it is a must-see for the enthusiast. It isn't flashy, but that adds to its allure. Plus: it's a not-for-profit which means you know where your money is going.
