I love Highland Marine! We always desire to come here over all the other lakes. Highland Marine has everything you need to have a great time, function, and stay. We have been coming here for years. We love the lakes and have been all over West Point but Highland is the best! We've stayed in many of the cabins and the flowing dock. In addition, we bring our family members from Florida and they always want to come here for their vacation.  I/We will also bring and recommend Highland Marine to any one.

The lake is beautiful.  However, the grounds leave a lot to be desired.  Bathrooms closed or dirty.  Garbage all over the beaches. My son stepped on a board with a rusty nail on the grounds area (outside of our camp site).  Dump station is hard to find (even the front office people couldnt tell us where it was) and poorly designed, such that your trailer connection is below the drain port so you can't fully drain tanks without spillage.  Also, FYI, bring your own campfire pit, and a table to sit around because they don't have them.  For the price, I would expect better amenities.

This place has the potential to be awesome; however, the management/ownership needs to focus on the details. We rented the bass boat for 3 days and despite the pick-up at 9am, we never were able to get out of the marina before 930.  You also had to have it back by 5pm despite 2+ hrs of light left to fish.  The first night they didn't plug in the battery charger so day 2 the trolling motor only lasted the morning.  We took out a pontoon for the afternoon, the radio volume was very loud and the (-) button didn't work to turn it down so we just turned it off. Day 3 the bass boat wouldn't start so we had to take the Crappie boat which stalled out numerous times.  We stayed in the Chalet for 4 nights (sleeps 6) they had 4 bath towels. They left 1 trash bag, 1 roll of paper towels, 1 roll of the cheapest quality toilet paper ever made...and we never got a visit from housekeeping asking if we needed anything.  For $300+/night and $240/day boat rental I would expect more.  The staff did their best to make up for the ownerships shortfalls but in the end we were disappointed.

When reading the reviews I noticed that the owner gave this a 5 star rating and a short review imposing as a guest. I find this dishonest misleading and truly speaks volumes about his character.
