We brought Nash to see Dr. Pema because he was having constant GI issues and our other vet wanted to start him on steroids. I knew there had to be a better option. He was only 3 and starting steroids was not something I wanted to do if I didn't have to. Dr. Pema did an allergy blood test and recommended a simple diet change based on his profile. Since then he has been perfectly healthy, not a single issue to speak of. I am so happy that we went to Holistic Veterinary Healing. Now we take both our dogs and they both actually enjoy going to the vet. The atmosphere is calm and the staff is very kind. The dogs are very comfortable there.

We're so grateful for the care our dogs have received from Dr. Pema and the whole team. Just walking in the door is such a different experience from any other vet office. I always knew vet care could be this way!

I give Dr. Pema and the team 11 out of 10 stars. My dog was diagnosed with liver cancer  by another vet who said he had 2-4 weeks to live. I spoke to Dr. Pema At 6 pm on a Friday night. She got his records from 2 different vets and called me back within the hour to say she did not think his condition was that dire and she believed she could help him. She made time in her schedule to see him the next day. Her comprehensive, thoughtful, alternative treatment has given my dog a new life. It’s 2 months since that initial diagnosis and my dog has gained 20% of his body weight back, is in no pain, and has a wonderful quality of life.  I live in DC so it’s quite a drive to get there but worth every minute and every mile.  Thank you Dr. Pema, Ben and John for the fabulous care you give Magellan.

We are BIG fans of Holistic Veterinary Healing! I was referred to Dr. Pema and her team by my previous holistic vet. I was looking for a caring, holistic practice that was closer to my home. When Pebbles, my furry, four-legged baby, needed an emergency spay, Dr. Pema and her team took amazing care of my pup (and me!). Pebbles is happy and healthy because of Dr. Pema's quick action and thorough approach. I've been incredibly impressed with their kindness, responsiveness and follow up, and their approach to caring for the whole animal (and his or her family). They treat Pebbles like I treat Pebbles - with lots of love.  

Dr. Pema is a talented, knowledgeable surgeon and veterinarian. She balances holistic and allopathic care seamlessly - providing homeopathic and conventional medicines, in addition to having an impressive surgical facility onsite.  She's highly observant, and she and the whole team are aligned on caring for your furry friend. 

Moreover, little Pebbles has never been a fan of the vet, but she really likes seeing Ben, John, Julie, and Dr. Pema. And I can tell that they genuinely enjoy seeing her, which makes the experience that much better in my eyes. I would refer anyone looking for a caring, knowledgeable vet team to Holistic Veterinary Healing.

Finally a plan of action that I can feel good providing for my pet. It has been hard to find a vet that is understanding towards holistic approaches and who has solutions other than prescribing pills. I personally do not use a conventional approach to my own healing, and it was a relief to find support of treatments for my dog that I prefer to use. I no longer feel like I am stumbling around in the dark experimenting, but instead have a plan of action to heal my girl.
