Food: 2.5/5 Service and Setting: 1.5/5 Value: 2.5/5 I have been on an Indian food high, but sadly the streak of awesome Indian food has come to an end. Located in a plaza close to the freeway on Miramar Road, Hyderabadi House has lots of parking. Going inside, the restaurant is new and clean. They have a fancy filtered water dispenser you normally see in Korean restaurants. The cashier was nice initially, but very flustered when he talks. Things got weird as the cook and the cashier started yelling at each other about when packing food and taking orders. The cashier also did not give me important parts of my dish until I asked, more on that later. Overall, I really want to support a new small business and I am not discouraging anyone from doing so, but the lavish rating they have as of now is honestly a stretch. Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani: 2/5 I will be honest and say that I am not a big fan of biryani. The spices tend to be a bit too rough on my palate and I usually prefer curry with plain rice. I do appreciate a well done biriyani and love those that are adorned with caramelized onions, cilantro, a hard boiled egg, etc. This particular biriyani was recommended by the cashier but it was pretty meh. The standard spices without any of my beloved toppings. The chicken was well cooked, but again forgettable. Also, I was a good couple minutes into my meal and realized I did not receive shorba or raita soup and yogurt, two of the staple biryani accompaniments. The shorba was very peanut-y and the raita was very straightforward with its cucumber and yogurt. Tandoori Chicken: 1.5/5 This did not look like the pictures they posted. The chicken has no skin and is very dry. The seasoning does not have any of that bright red tandoori color which can be a good or bad thing depending on who you talk to and the flavor is a little different. I would avoid. Chili Chaat Masala Naan: 3/5 Tastes like a normal garlic naan. I wish they put on more chaat masala. It was well brushed with ghee but be warned, you need to eat it quick or it hardens up into a cracker. This is definitely more a thin and crispy naan versus a moist chewy one. Payasam: 4/5 Not too sweet and a bit runny, to me payasam tastes like a watered down version of sheer khurma. Sweet, creamy, and full of noodles, I enjoyed this quite a bit. The perfect bites had a bit of raisin and cashew, something so different from all the other types of food I have eaten,. I love Indian desserts and while this was not noteworthy, it was a great way to end my meal.
Great biriyani options. Love the chicken 65 here ! Mango lassi is so creamy and tasty. Had the special goat curry, the meat just melts your mouth. The chef is South Indian so it is authentic!
Their food is excellent and so flavorful. I thoroughly enjoyed the butter chicken and the hydrabadi dum biryani. Chicken 65 and gobhi Manchurian were also very tasty
The food is perfect with spices. I loved the ambience and the pictures over the walls. Kodi vepudu is my favorite and prawn varuval is amazing. Hyderabad taste Recommended dishesApollo Fish, Chicken 65, Cheese Naan, Gobi Manchurian
Taste of biryani was truly satisfying. The service was friendly and attentive, and the prices were reasonable. Must visit Biryani Lovers! at Hyderabadi House San Diego.
Amazing place..the service was great and staff was very friendly. I asked them to explain the different biryanis and I finally went with beza biryani. Very authentic and tasty.
We got Chicken 65 biryani and paneer biryani. It tastes really bad. It’s definitely not hyderabadi biryani. It felt like they mixed some colored rice with chicken and paneer. Don’t recommend if you are looking for authentic hyderabadi biryani.
Just now ordered paneer butter masala and few biryanis’. The food is very bad, biryani is nothing but colored rice mixed with gravy. The only flavor is super super hot, red chili hot. Can I give 0 star?
Amazing flavors !!! Ordered Hyd chicken dum biryani and Prawn varuval.. taste and flavor was outstanding. Will come back for sure !!
I tried the biryani at Hyderabadi House and it was absolutely delicious. The spices were perfectly balanced and the rice was cooked to perfection. This is definitely a must-try for anyone in San Diego.
