I can't say enough about the dunes! It has the most beautiful views and scenery, it's like like being at the ocean to me it deals the same outside of no palm trees. You can climb the huge sand hills, swim, use a metal detector to find treasures lost in the sand and water all up and down the beach. Relaxing for the whole family or just you and a good book. Enjoy!!! Oh and it's free but you may have to pay to park if the lot is full. Good luck and have fun!!!

I've been here twice. I've walked the beach and drove the shoreline, seen those 1893 World's Fair homes & other fancy ones. Seeing the World's Fair ones is a treat. Another trip is needed to hike around the actual dunes some more. There's free access to the beach, just have to have a local with you. Once there, plenty of parking & walk to the beach is just minutes away. I've only been there in the colder months so can't vouch for the summer....

The park is nice and clean. But gay men doing bad things in there cars driving by.... Not what children or anybody should have to see. My wife is from otherr country, was not fun explaining to her why we saw what we did see. I'm told the park police don't stop this cause they are gay... this is America people are free to to what they want. But in private.. Not at a park.

Came here on a whim one summer day to check out the beaches I’d always heard about. First impression was mixed, the drive to the beach was beautiful although a bit confusing. Cell service is non existent out here. To make things worse, parking is a disaster. There are what looks like 15 spots for cars, and there’s a line of people just waiting to park. We had to wait at least 35 minutes before someone left allowing a spot to come up. This was later in the day though, so I can’t imagine what it’s like earlier. Once on the beach though everything was great. Plenty of open space (everyone is in the parking lot 😂). I didn’t spend much time in the water, but it seemed fine! Sunset was awesome. I’d highly recommend going but do a lot of planning ahead of time and make sure you have something figured out for parking.

Nice hiking trails up the dunes to Mt. Tom with a great view of Lake Michigan. Camp ground has comfortable facilities with ample site size, picnic tables and fire rings. Plenty of wooded trails from the camp ground to lake.
