This hospital is exceptional, and I am surprised it has only a 2-star rating. The nursing staff is outstanding, consistently going above and beyond to assist my father and our family with all our needs. They are providing excellent care for my father and ensuring he receives the necessary treatment. Everyone I have interacted with here has been extremely kind and helpful. I highly recommend this hospital.
While I have had some great nurses and met very helpful and welcoming staff, I would not recommend coming here for treatment. In my most recent visit, a nurse in the ER was determined to use the same arm that had an IV that was already causing me pain to take my blood pressure, causing worse bruising than normal. When I rang to use the restroom, not only did I not get a response for 20 minutes, but I had to call twice. the first time they picked up but didn't say a word to me and I could audibly hear the conversation going on at the nurse's station. The doctors do not seem to always listen to the patient when they are trying to explain how they are feeling or what is going on and make assumptions prior to the conversation. I understand that ER doctors are busy but I was told that the doctor would be in the explain further plans and didn't see a doctor for at least 45+ minutes. I was then told that I would be able to have Gatorade, which I not only never received but then was told by a nurse that the doctor changed it to I was not able to receive anything to drink. Please do better.
Do NOT come here, especially if you’re a college student. I was turned away from the emergency room and told I just had “an upset stomach” when I was in fact BLEEDING INTERNALLY and they refused to do anything to help me. I could have died due to their carelessness. There was a huge lack of care in all of the workers here. There is no kindness or empathy. I’ve heard so many horror stories from this place and not one good thing. If you go to IUP, just go to the health center there and I promise they will be ten times more helpful for far less money.
I walked into the EMPTY emergency room in excruciating chest pain and struggling to breathe and got taken to a room immediately. There were two bloody tubes on the ground that were there from the last patient i’m assuming? I had all of my monitors undone for over an hour and no one even noticed. I sat in the room for over 4 hours and was not seen until 30-40 minutes after I called for help on the bed remote. All for the doctor to listen to my breathing for 30 seconds and then tell me to see a family physician if my chest pain continued. I was given absolutely no advice or any thoughts on my current state. I left in more pain from sitting in the same spot in bed and from the IV that they left in from when I got there and never even used. Also on my walk out I saw an elderly woman screaming for help with her buzzers going off and watched nurses just walk by. I wouldn’t go here again even if, and especially, my life depended on it.
Some of the "nurses" are extremely rude in ICU. They made me feel like a bother for waiting all night and for her Dr. this morning, then called back and was told to wait another 30 minutes just to say Hi and hear her voice. I'm located out of state. Now they are on rounds and Morgan and my Mom's nurse who never told me her name made me feel like a bother to take a simple hand held phone to her after putting me off for the third call. So cruel . Except for Shawn who was beyond kind and reminded me of my RN Aunt. RIP last night so kind and detailed. People should have to be tested for empathy in order to work with the dying
Absolutely unacceptable that this hospital continues to run with terrible experiences and reviews from the patients. My best friend has an awful experience here, she was treated rudely by the nurses as soon as she got there. And when she was telling them what was going on they treated her like she was making things up. She had to wait around so long for the nurses while she heard them outside talking and laughing. An absolute joke. You should genuinely be ashamed to be running a place like this and clearly it’s not getting any better. Nobody in an emergency or in pain deserves to be treated like this. And it’s really a shame because this is one of the only hospitals around IUP. It’s clear that nobody hear actually cares about helping the patients and it’s even clearer that the ones in charge don’t care about making anything better, so if you are in an emergency or really need help, dont go here it’s a waste of time.
Trying to call in to make a payment on your account is absurd they put you on hold give you a hold time of say 3 minutes 40 minutes later still on hold so you get frustrated try it again and it says your hold time five minutes same deal wait and wait and wait and still kept on hold guess they don’t want payments too badly. It’s also Friday so guess they just do not want bothered on a Friday and have to do something
My mom was taken to the ER this morning because she was having some confusion and she was her blood oxygen was low. What did she get done in the ER? Absolutely positively nothing they didn’t even take a normal blood sample. No urine sample….no nothing. Unbelievable to me any one who is confused and having problems like that should at least worn a blood draw. Nothing they did nothing.
I just spent a couple days at IRMC as an inpatient. I’ve been a nurse for 25 years and have worked in numerous hospitals both in Canada and the US over the years. I cannot say enough good things for how efficient and caring their staff is. I’m beyond grateful for the care I received, this includes all staff that I interacted with. I’ve been given a second chance at life and I’m grateful. Thank You IRMC.
I've had multiple experiences here only to be dismissed and told that I'm fine. The doctors here will tell anyone anything just to get them in and out without any explanation, diagnosis or testing. If you're lucky you might get a random prescription that they picked out of a hat for you that you don't even need because they didn't do any tests they just take a guess at what the issue might be...I had to travel to another state for answers, and finally I was told by that hospital that I needed surgery because a large mass was found. Indiana could have caught the issue much earlier on had they had actually done ANYTHING AT ALL the first few visits. I just recently had to have another visit with this dreadful place for myself once again and they told me they couldn't find anything and threw me on a random prescription, obviously the prescription didn't work. So off to another state I go I guess. Anyways last off I just took a friend to this hospital, and ONCE AGAIN even they were told that they were fine , after 1 x-ray, when my friend came in with difficulty breathing, chest pain, ect and thrown on the SAME prescription that I was.. Prednisone which is being given out at this hospital as a placebo for anything and everything these days.
