Horrific customer service. I got to the Warwick office at 11am this morning, wanting some direction on what to do about my 2016 tax refund which I STILL have not recieved, due to my accountant being under federal investigation for fraud. I have gone through literally every avenue with the IRS possible except for meeting someone face to face. I arrive at the office and am told by a very personable and friendly security officer to have a seat until someone is available to see me. I wait for about 10 minutes in complete silence. No phones ringing, no voices, no other people waiting, nothing. If not for the security guard there, I wouldn’t have known the place was open. After 10 minutes, a woman comes out and is very dismissive of everything I had to say. She asks me if I have checked the status of my refund online, and I tell her I’ve been doing that for months. I tell her I’ve been waiting 9 months for a return that should have taken 3 weeks, and I seem to hit a dead end everywhere I turn. I show her documents mailed to me by the IRS with a phone number to call, and I tell her that all the number does is prompt me until a certain point until it tells me they are unable to give me any more info. Her answer to this is “well people have told me that if you call and just don’t hit any buttons, a real person will answer.” Seriously? What is that office there for if it’s not to help customers? She then gave me a piece of paper with a phone number on it that I can call to “make an appointment with us.” Again, seriously? You could have heard a pin drop in there. No one was waiting. I understand there’s a protocol to follow but I feel an exception should have been made in a completely empty office for someone who’s tax refund is 9 months late. Totally dissatisfied with my experience there and if I could rate it less than one star, I would. Apparently this woman’s game of solitaire in back was far more important than my issue and what I had to say.

Yes...very rude and unprofessional staffing! Come on, we know this is the IRS and we know they deal with a lot of scumbags but there is no need to be an ass.

I came from New Bedfotd and it sent me all the way to warwick rode island to the internal revenue office having one officr in fall river, that is 35 miles out of the way hurray to google maps it sucks
