I have been a lifelong resident of Irving, and I have nothing but respect for Irving PD. They have been beyond helpful in keeping my city safe and family-friendly. With all this being said, however, there is always room for improvement. In June of this year my grandmother passed away and I was at her home with her. When I called for the ambulance, the police officers showed up as well. I found the police officers to be very stoic, rude, and dismissive when they were discussing my grandmother with me. At the time I was crushed as I felt everything was taken from me and the behavior of the officers further crushed me. They were not empathetic to my loss, kept asking questions about my height/weight/education, etc. and overall did not behave like model police officers a city needs them to be during times of crisis.  Now I know not all officers are like this. I am not writing this post to bash anyone or paint officers in a negative fashion. I do, however, want this department to think about the way they train officers to handle calamities that befall everyday citizens. They are the first on the scene and every positive action they make goes a long way for the family of the deceased. Overall, I will never stop respecting this PD. I just wish for improvement and maybe this will be a source of positivity for future suffering families.

When exercising your rights to open carry a rifle, the cops were called by some concerned people. They showed up rather quickly. They were professional and did not harass me. They did however follow everywhere i went closely.

I got pulled over due to my turn signal being out, which my car notified me of just a few minutes before I got pulled over. Officer was professional, courteous, and thorough. I thank and appreciate his duty and commitment. Gave me a warning with the understanding I will fix turn signal asap!

I cannot say nothing but good things about Irving PD they were there in two minutes when I needed them and the nicest officer ever

I called police @ 9:01pm to report a possible break-in in progress & it's now 10:28pm & no one showed up. Police know that there are known gang members on property, but they do nothing, as is they are scared. They told me where some of the gang members lived on property. The apt has gotten broken into 3 times. There is nothing of value in there, but because they think there is, they are still trying to get in. Why doesn't I.P.D. do something​? They see a guy beaten up & take the other guy that was protecting himself to jail. They don't care to know the truth, they just hear 1 side of the story & run with it... So sad... I remember when I used to love living in Irving cause it was safe. Now it's horrible!
