I have been going to JB Jewlers for 18 years or shall I say Javier. He is a down to earth man who knows his jewlery he gave me credit when I had none as a 18 year old. I have bought a number of beautiful classic pieces from him over the years he is honest, caring and proffesional. He will always carry my buisness over the huge chains. No I am not a close friend or relative. Thanks for the almost 2 decades of friendship and great customer service.

As a child living in Peru, Javier Barrantes wanted to be a Reporter. Perhaps that explains his dynamic personality and talkative nature. This welcoming presence is the first thing you notice when you visit JB Jewelers, located in Clairemont, San Diego. So how did Javier end up being the owner of a jewelry store? It’s simple, he became passionate about the industry after having worked as a manager for several family owned jewelry companies throughout San Francisco and Los Angeles for over a decade. His dream of opening his own jewelry business was finally realized in 2002, when he took over this local shop, appropriately renaming it JB Jewelers. Javier’s store, open Monday through Saturday and 2 Sundays in December, is well known for its thorough repair services for jewelry and watches. You don’t need to go far or wait very long for these repairs either, as they are all done in-house by their master jeweler with over 40 years of experience. However, JB Jewelers is much more than that. Their selection of high quality gems ranges from engagement rings and wedding bands to stunning Tahitian pearls and an array of fashion jewelry. Javier’s ability to prepare and mount custom jewelry is an attractive aspect of this store, and allows customers to choose their own stones and designs. Impressive? I thought so. Not only does this shop offer flexibility in jewelry design, it is all done on a very personal level and leaves you feeling like you’re part of the JB Jewelers family. That is what sets this store apart from larger jewelry chains. Whether it’s attending the annual jewelry expo in Las Vegas or setting the perfect stone in a custom mount, Javier’s passion for his jewelry business is seen through his ongoing commitment to his customers.
