Local in source, Texan in spirit, not only in the kitchen, but in the community, is what Jack Allen’s Kitchen is all about. Since 2009, our restaurant has been bringing Southern-inspired flavors infused with the spice of Southwestern cuisine to the Austin area. Chef and owner Jack Allen Gilmore’s dedication to local farmers and purveyors yields us the best from each season. Texas’ rich history and abundant local bounty serves as our daily inspiration, and it is our great honor to bring that directly to your table.

Great place to eat. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant has an upscale feel but you soon find yourself settling in to a more casual atmosphere. I had the Chicken Fried New York Strip Steak. Say what? Who would chicken fry a NY Strip Steak? Delicious Sacrilege!!! Crunchy on the outside soft tender meat on the inside with white gravy on top. The mashed potatoes and steamed veggies brings together this wonderful meal. Let's not forget about the price. For a meal such as this, the price is more than reasonable. I highly recommend it.

Arrived a 6pm on a Thursday. Parking was crazy! I highly suggest to utilize the free valet parking. Our wait was short 25 minutes, but the party right behind us was given a wait time of nearly 40 minutes longer... 1 hour! We ordered drinks and got our table in just about the time promised. We had the bacon wrapped quail, chicken fried ribs, chicken fried steak, chicken fried chicken and green chili pork tacos. All we're delicious. Our drinks were poured well and were delicious also. Will come again. Outside seating is okay... even in the heat. The misters help to cool you off before it gets too hot. As soon as the sun set, it was a beautiful night to dine outdoors. The only drawback is that someone who had backed into their parking space right in front of the outside seating area decided to cool down their car by letting it run. The whole seating area filled up with exhaust. We promptly left because of this.

It's 5:00 on a Saturday, the regular crowd shuffled in. They seated us on the patio, and the specials are explained in great detail. There's a young woman sitting next to me, she doesn't know where to begin (my wife - everything on the menu looks delightful). The waiter sold me on the St. Louis style ribs. He said they were sweet and I knew it would complete the order of the things that we chose. He was quick with a joke. The meal was great. The service phenomenal. And they got us feeling all right.

This was one of the best breakfast buffets I've ever had. There were so many options! It's a pretty simple set up with one long table of food, and a few surrounding ones with desserts. It was pretty busy when we were there. Definitely worth a try if you like breakfast and buffets.

The Red Fries on the app menu are where it's at! Seriously, they are my fav. Last time in I had the green chili burger, it was good, but being from Colorado (which is known for it's green chili) it wasn't exactly what I was hoping it would be. I'm not going to knock them for that though. The service is always super attentive, friendly, and on point. The salads are always fantastic and get the Green Goddess dressing, they even sell mason jars of the stuff. I will figure out how you made it! Eventually!
