Story

Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens' Snapshot Society is a members-only group of photography-loving Zoo enthusiasts. Led by long-time Zoo photographer, John Reed, the Society meets quarterly for early entrance to the Zoo and unique photo opportunities with our beloved animals.

Society members can use this group to share photos, talk tips of the trade, and keep in touch with one another.

We had a great day at the zoo. The animals seem well cared for and their enclosures look more than adequate. They had a great diversity of animals. We had lunch there as well and their prices were good. $6 for a kids meal and around $10 for an adult. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable too. I'm glad I finally made it there after living here for five years.

They literally have no animals at all what so ever. All they have are birds flying around and they poop on people's heads. They make you pay $4 to watch shows, watch stingrays, butterflies, etc. The reason you buy tickets to this zoo is to watch animals. They shouldn't have to make people pay extra money to watch animals. There was also no gorillas or monkeys here. Please don't come to this horrible place. Bad experience. 1 star.

It's a zoo. Not rating it higher than three stars is probably more to do with how zoos make me feel then anything else. I do understand that this zoo is run largely on donations. There are some places that look and feel a bit run down. For the most part it looks like they do a good job. It's a great place to take the kids for a day trip. Food and drinks aren't ridiculously priced at least in comparison to buying them at a theme park.

Great place for a family get away great variety of animals to see. There is really so much to see so I would plan for a day trip and they also have a little water park for the kiddos inside so pack the kids swim wear. Most of the walkways are shaded so you don't have to worry too much about sun exposure. Really the best zoo I have been to in awhile.

Favorite Jacksonville attraction by far! Staff is courteous and animals well cared for. There's a splash park in the summer and holidays always bring special added bits, too. Also, my daughter adores summer camp here and there are occasional movie nights which make for a great family night out.
