Listen, Jenny's gourmet is some of the best soul food around. Her ribs will make a grown man weep, her greens will fill you with Popeye like vim and vigor, and her mac and cheese... yes her mac and cheese could without question bring about world peace.

My wife and I were really excited to find that there was some place new in our city that served home cooked comfort food. So, we made a plan to give Jenni's Gourmet a try. We found that they would do phone orders for pick up. So, I ordered the Perch dinner, with Macaroni and Cheese and Collard Greens. My wife got the Mango Burbon Sauce Wings, Sweet Potatoes and Collard Greens. 

When we got home, I discovered that I did not get my Macaroni and Cheese. Instead, I received the Sweet Potatoes. As I got into my meal, it became clear that the Perch was slightly over cooked. Although the flavor was good, it was difficult to cut. That's not what I would expect from a fish like perch, if it were fried for the right amount of time. So, it wasn't the best fish I've ever had. But, the surprises didn't end there!

The Sweet Potatoes were good. They were soft and sweet, but nothing to get too excited about. I think I felt that way because the experience was severely diminished when I tasted the Collard Greens. The flavor was good. But, these greens WERE NOT PROPERLY CLEANED! They were FULL OF DIRT!! Greens are not supposed to crunch when you eat them! And every bite of this side dish was a crackling disaster! The same was true of my wife's greens as well. They had to be thrown away it was so bad.

The next day, my wife thought to give Jenni's Gourmet a chance to make it right. She called to let Jenni know what our experience was like. And the only response she got back from the woman on the phone was, "Oh. Okay. Thanks."

Not, "I'm sorry." Not, "Let me make it right." No! Just okay, thanks!?! So, it's clear that customer service is not a priority for this business. Based on that experience, and conversations that we've had with other customers who experienced Jenni's Gourmet food. We have come to the conclusion that this not a restaurant that we will be patronizing again. It's really disappointing, because we love to try new places. But, I refuse to spend my money at a restaurant that so obviously does not value it's customers!

I give 2 stars because I think this place has potential. But, there is much left to be desired. Unfortunately, we will never know if those improvements were ever made! We won't be going back.

Food was decent. People were friendly. Best part of meal was the mac-n-cheese. Jerk chicken gyro could use a little more flavor and should be served with a side of sauce. Pretty good burgers. Fish fry was just ok. Will try again in a couple months

Burger was huge and delicious! The prices are just as appealing too.  I was more than satisfied and cannot wait to try other items from the menu.  Im hooked after one time. So glad to have found Jennys Gourmet ♡
