I called the hospital and asked if I could visit my friend in the emergency room. They said yes as long as the patient was okay with it. Drove an hour just for the front desk lady to tell me I can’t go into her room and that there is a one visitor per room policy. I told her that’s a lie because there’s already two people in her room right now another friend and her mother. She said “well then she can’t have any more”. She was incredibly rude but I didn’t want to cause trouble, so I waited in the waiting room. My friend waits three hours to get a scan. She didn’t hear anything from the doctors or nurses in those three hours. So she presses the call button. No one answers. She keeps pressing it. No answer. Then my friend texts me saying she has been pressing the call button dozens of times with no answer. I work in Hartford Hospital. This is simply not okay. If a patient presses the call button we answer immediately and go into their room and check on them. I had to go up to the front desk lady and tell her to send somebody to her room. If it was an emergency and she was dying, they wouldn’t have noticed. Not to mention my friend is a MINOR. If this is how they treat a child, I would hate to see how they treat adults. Finally, after I went to talk to the front desk lady, they sent someone to her room. Just for the PA to tell her they aren’t doing the scan anymore and are just going to discharge her. So they waited three hours for nothing. Do yourself a favor and go to a different hospital.
I am extremely disappointed in this hospital. I was 12 years old at the time and was involved in a very bad car accident with my parents. There was no seat law back then. So I went through the windshield. Of course I went to the hospital, and they told my parents that I just sprained my leg and then I would be fine. No x-ray no MRI no nothing. And let’s not talk about the food because that was horrible. Most of the nurses were nice to me, but the ones that were mean I stayed away from as far as possible. This is the first time that I’ve ever spoken about this on the Internet so I ask you to please be kind. And if you can’t then go the other way. My leg was broken in four places and nobody knew it. My leg healed on its own. Thank you everyone that read this. God bless.
Terrible experience. I will say there was an RN named Brittany from the ER time was approx 9pm she was AMAZING!! calming...knowledgable...she was amazing! The doctor was uncaring....explained nothing...couldn't care less. I would never step foot in that place again.
I went in for severe back pain. I've already been diagnosed with gallstones from a different hospital years ago so I thought maybe my gallstones got worse. The nurse was a very very nice guy but the doctor pretty much just tried getting rid of me. I was honest with him and told him I drink a lot so I'm hoping it's not my liver. I think maybe that was a bad idea because he pretty much just ignored me from that point on. I think he also judged me because of my dreads. when he ordered a catscan it wasn't even a full one with the stuff they inject into your body. Also, they said they didn't see ANY gallstones on the catscan. I KNOW I have 2 gallstones but somehow this hospital missed them. They did give me toradol which did help me a bit and I fell asleep in the hospital. I woke up to the doctor just saying "no kidney stones, you can go home". He proceeded to just turn and walk out of the room without explaining anything to me and without trying to find out what was causing the pain. Then when the nurse came in he said they didn't see ANYTHING on the catscan which i know is not good because i have 2 gallstones that he should have seen. I have never had such a bad experience at a hospital.
I have been transported to ER a few times. Treatment great. Specialist for my blunt force leg trauma arrived immediately. Scans and x-rays prompt. I'd go there for my emergency care. I WROTE MY REVIEW AS I HEARD STORIES FROM AN EMPLOYEE FROM WINDHAM HOSP. THAT YOU WERE "OUT OF BUSINESS", THREW ALL MATERNITIES OUT AND ALL IS CLOSING! Did a fact check and see you had a big fine for lack of.paperwork and saw maternity was transferred to your Enfield satellite! You need damage control or you'll fail!
Typically I have a wonderful experience here, and can appreciate all the hard work and effort medical staff do despite a tumultuous health crisis. However, I was shocked and disappointed at my last visit. When I arrived with a heartbeat in the 120s, dizziness, spotty vision and an achy body the man who took me into my room was very blunt and left his computer screen open in my line of vision with the list of patients who were in the ER, their birthday and their reason for treatment. Thats a huge ethics and Hiipa violation. I explained my dizziness and spotty vision, as well as my multiple allergies to 3 different providers. I was never given a fall risk band nor an allergy band. I was in the bed hooked up to monitors and an IV and wasn’t given the remote which has the call light option if god forbid something happened. Halfway through my visit I heard a doctor arguing loudly with an EMT over an elderly patients baseline- which a the EMT didn’t have the info and b no other patient should be hearing what happened and why. The only saving grace to my visit was my nurse. She was absolutely wonderful, comforting and chatted with me to take my mind off my pain. I was also given medication that can exacerbate my asthma and also can cause more dizziness and fatigue. If the three issues were in my chart wouldn’t they investigate another medication? I rarely ever write reviews and complaints but this was over the top for me. I believe I will be going to st Francis for my emergent issues going forward.
If I could give this Hospital zero stars I would.. Which is a Shame. I have always preferred this Hospital, as they had always given me good care and been respectful in the past.. until today. Doctor Mark R Dziedzic immediately judged me and offered to give me minimal care at first, and by the end of the conversation he decided he didnt like me, and that I deserved no care. He rudely made me leave and even called Security on me when I asked him if his treating patients depended on whether or not he approved of them or liked them to which he basically said yes. Even Security laughed at Him. Absolutely horrible treatment by a supposed medical professional.. After years of coming here I will NEVER come back. Never before has a Doctor spoken so rudely and belittling to me in my Life. That Man should NOT be a Doctor. What a Joke. Made me feel absolutely worthless and beneath contempt. And now after waiting so long I was told by the Wonderful Nursing staff to find another Hospital with a Doctor that would Help me. Despicable.. Even they were Terribly Embarassed by this "mans" behavior. This is the Care johnsons offers now. Rude high and Mighty Doctors with a napoleon complex.. Though, the Nurses were Great. I'd suggest going anywhere else.
Recent emergency visit for my aging/dementia mother that fell. As much as the dr was sympathetic to me being a homecare person of a parent, I was more concerned of getting her needs for her health and at home care but instead it seemed they were more concerned at discharging her. Her medication was not a concern. I was told if she stayed, she would be in a wheelchair and put in a common room with others at the hospital. I wasn't about to let that happen to her while she is in pain and confused already. And the care coordinator was unable to get assistance that day but I was never told if i accepted her to be discharge, they would no longer be responsible. They just basically washed their hands of her and it became our problem. Clearly her health was of no concern to them. Just clear the room.
No wait time. Very clean. Very caring and compassionate. Took care of me right away.
Staff does not understand the meaning of empathy. Treated me and my sister like a virus when we arrived to pick up my mother after they tested her for covid and she came out positive. Made us wait outside in the cold on new years eve. Maybe they lack patient care altogether Or maybe they just treated us in that manner because we were Hispanic. I say this because I didn't even get a chance to say why I was there before the front desk female started to tell us to get out and wait outside. I try to be civil and I was. But god only knows how pist I was. If you're not white, do not go to this hospital. You'll feel worse leaving then when you did going in, emotionally.
