Story

L.P. Steamers is a family owned and managed crab shack that sits in a corner row house in Locust Point, Baltimore. It is where tradition meets freshness with year-round, hot steamed crabs, and carefully prepared local favorites. Whether you're a crab-picking newbie or you've been hammering and picking your whole life, L.P.'s is the place to visit!

When we were barely big enough to hold a mallet, our Maryland moms' said, "If you can't pick 'em - you can't eat 'um!" Our survival of the fittest crab picking techniques have been passed down from generation to generation and we are here to help you learn the ways of the Bay. If using a butter knife and a wooden mallet to eat is a foreign concept to you - let our friendly staff teach you the best ways to pick and eat our delicious, hot, steamed crabs.

With Zagat ratings and city-wide recognition as one of the best places in Baltimore to enjoy good food, it’s not a surprise that people venture far and wide to pay this place a visit. If you are looking for great seafood with great friends, L.P. Steamers has exactly what you are looking for.

"Pick a man's crabs, and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to pick crabs, and he'll live in Maryland the rest of his life." -LPS

This place came very highly recommended. Came in with a party of 8 on a Thursday afternoon and they were able to seat us immediately with no reservation. We got there and ordered a variety of things. Some people got meals from the menu (Crab Cake platter, fish and chips, etc) others of us got some crabs. They are sold individually or by the dozen in 4 different sizes. Small/Med/Large/Jumbo. We got the Large crabs. They were good. Where this place missed the mark: The crabs were served as is, no butter, lemon, additional seasonings, nothing else came with it. Had to ask for things. No bibs, I expected bibs for the mess.

Highly recommend this restaurant. My wife and I were visiting our daughter in Washington and being from the south I was excited to visit the City known for crab since we love seafood and never had craps before. We went in a sat down and were only ones there. I didn't feel like we were in the right place, so we left and went to another restaurant. They weresold out. We went back to this restaurant and it was crowded and everyone had cab. We ordered crabs, seafood sampler, and crab cakes. My wife Loves the Crab cakes, best ever. Crabs were great, sampler was good and had plenty. The waitress staff were very friendly and happy to answer all the questions we had. I must say that this was the best "second guess" almost missed opportunity ever. Will definitely go back.

We ordered a hard-shell crab with a tiny meat inside because most of the crab is not edible. They bring the whole crab with its waste. Baltimore people eat that as well. Basically, you pick up the crab yourself which takes time and at the end you leave with a tiny meat which only is edible. Long story short we paid for the crab and did not touch it. Do not expect long delicious crab. Do not recommend. Terrible manager!

My family took me here for a late birthday present. Our waitress was the best, and very accommodating. However our crabs were horrible. We ordered a 1/2 and a dozen and aleast 7 crabs were bad. We pointed the first 2 and our waitress was polite and replaced them, but as we kept going it was just a total bust. They weren't seasoned well either. I thought I was out of town or something. However we paid our bill making no fuss, and just vowed not to come back.
