I got a sesame bagel with dill cream cheese. Not toasted. The bagel tasted bland and stale. The texture was hard and not fluffy at all. I usually get bagels at ye olde bk bagel shop and in comparison this bagel was so disappointing. The service was very good.
I’ve been coming to this location pretty regularly for 3 years. I love their menu variety and quality. But over the last 6-8 months there has been a noticeable negative shift however and today unfortunately was the final straw leading me to write a review. Over the last few months there has been unreliability in opening times, mistaken orders even when not busy, rude and overwhelmed staff and very long wait times. There seems to be a heavy turnover rate in staff based on help wanted signs going up and down in the window frequently and new staff faces which understandably leads to a lot of the issues above. However this morning there were 5 customers waiting outside at 6:30. 3 ended up leaving after 5-10 mins and the store did not open the doors until 6:45. When I went in to order, I saw no bagels on the shelves. I asked if there were any types of bagels available and they said “no, we don’t have any bagels. Just bread and rolls.” When I asked when bagels may be available they said “not sure.” I left without a purchase and went to Bergen. I have loved LaBagel for a long time, and am used to the long lines and sometimes not so friendly staff-the overall experience has always made it worth it. I’ve been trying to wait out this period because I understand it’s a wonky environment right now and staff can be hard to maintain. But after waiting many months leading to this morning’s experience, I’ll be taking a break for a bit and hope to return later to a more familiar scene.
Bagels were good. Packed on a Sunday morning. Seem like the crew was overwhelmed. Messed up my order. Got turkey bec on plain bagel, cinnamon raisin bagel with butter, a green machine and a ginger shot. They for got my ginger shot and forgot to put butter on the bagel. They told me they didn't charge for a ginger shot, but it was on the bill . Bagel was for my girlfriend and she wasn't happy about the oversight. Beware when it's busy and check your order.
Classic NY Bagel Shop. Classic selections of bagels and cream cheeses. I come here 2-3 times a month and I been living in this neighborhood nearly 5 years. It is near by my favorite park 5 min away. Family friendly. The store recently updated the outdoor sittings which was a cherry on top.
Waited a long line, but the food was worth it. Ordered a cappuccino and came EXTREMELY hot - asked for milk to cool down and was given. Brisk soda from fridge tasted off. Overall great place but could use improvements !
I'm rounding up from 2.5 stars to 3 here cause it's Friday and I'm feeling generous. The coffee was good, the food here is fine, but at the price point it should be better. Two unfancy breakfast bagels and a coffee cost me $20. Actually it cost me over $30, and I had to point out that seemed excessive before they rang me up again and found the error. The queue to order and wait for food is a jumbled mess. There is no rhyme or reason to who's order is ready first. People I know have raved about the deliciousness of everything here, but when I finally opened my 20 dollar bagel... it had the wrong toppings on it. I vote: it's fine but overrated.
Picked up a bagel to go one afternoon. The bagel was good. I actually think they put just the right amount of cream cheese unlike a lot of bagel shops that put way too much that you end up throwing out. There was a bit of a line but it moved quickly and the guy working there was very nice. I would try here again.
I like this bagel place. They have a lot of bagel and cream cheese options. There are also a bunch of tables to sit and eat at. The staff is friendly and nice. There are a lot of good bagel places in NYC but if your near Atlantic Barclays area this is good place to go.
Incredible coffee, hot and filling bagel sandwiches, and very courteous and kind staff. One of the most solid spots in the neighborhood if you are looking for all of the above.
If you’re looking for one of the most disorganized fast casual bagel spots in NYC, you’ve found it here. You have to go through two lines of equally as confused people, who aren’t sure whether they’ve ordered or are waiting I line, to finally order. Then you order. And you don’t pay- till later. they don’t take your name- and then kind of have to guess when your order is ready and then finally pay- it’s just the most inefficient system and there’s no excuse. Time to modernize. Also- their bagels are now tough. I’ve asked for double toasted and blond and tough is what I’ve gotten lately. Not as good as they used to be. I feel bad for the employees because they’re put in a difficult position and then have to navigate through irritated customers- thus they become irritated. I am a chef- cook- and restaurant person, and it pains me to see a place like this that has so much potential.
