I signed up for the pool a few years back.  Swimming laps and running were and continue to be two of my favorite ways to exercise, release, etc.  Plenty of tigers willing to share a lane!  Basketball also became a sort of focus.  LA Fitness basketball court is small, but sufficient. 

The trainers have been courteous and helpful in making a routine and the weight room more comfortable.  Lisa became my main trainer and her emphasis on thoughtfulness and core work was really helpful. I truly lit up when I did my first wood-chop.  It's amazing how subtle movements and routines are almost - if not more - effective than heavy, unfocused lifting.  I've had chronic back pain for many years and our work together helped me a great deal.

Hours are not acceptable.  If there was a decent 24-hour gym nearby, they'd have my money and then some by now.  Cleanliness has improved and amenities are what you'd expect at this price point.  They let the old basketballs deconstruct before buying new ones, but hey at least they provide them.  

Note:  I've edited this to keep it on point.  I have plenty of thoughts about such and such, but as a review goes this will suffice.

Came here to try it out while I was looking for a new gym closer to my new job. I talked with Troy about a guest pass and memberships. He was very helpful with everything and informative. I did not get to spend as much time there as I would have liked, but I had a good overall impression.

Newer machines and weights and never really had to wait too long for weights even when it's kind of crowded. Overall the place is clean and well organized. Friendly staff in general. Just get over the hurdle of sales lol

I joined for access to the pool and am very happy with that. The facility has a lot of machines but they could use a serious cleaning! It would be nice if they offered anticeptic wipes to wipe things before and after you use them.

With corporate gyms, you pretty much know what you're going to get...a lot of nonsense.  I apprehensively signed up for a membership here due to the lack of offerings in my area that have the amount and variety of equipment that LA Fitness has to offer.

I only come here to use the free weights and certain machines.  I don't understand the obsession that the gyms in this area have with the Iron Grip brand free weights and plates, and once again, you'll find those here.  The free weights only go up to 100 lbs and the plates are rubberized and in the shape of a Dodecagon instead of being round.  Furthermore, there are no 100lb plates for the leg press machines.

There are three squat racks, one of them being a Hammer Strength powerlifting rack, 3 leg press machines, 4 flat barbell benches, 4 incline barbell benches, 1 decline barbell bench, and 1 military barbell cage.  The two hack squat machines they have are unfortunately not the conventional sled types.  All of the benches in the freeweight area are adjustable and are fixed to the ground with the exception of two seats for overhead pressing.  I do like that all of these are stationary and cannot be moved around the floor.  

There are a number of machines, mostly Life Fitness brand including 2 of the duel seated cable row machines (not my favorite compared to Flex brand or Cybex), and there are a few Hammer Strength brand machines.  Attachment variations and grip types for the lat pull down machines and row machines are noticeably absent.  Most of the machines stay functional, however, one of the two seated flye machines was out of service for nearly six weeks. 

Patrons of this gym are a mixed bag.  There are some who are seasoned but overall, this gym is full of beginners.  Prepare for poor gym etiquette such as people walking in between you and the mirror while you're performing lifts, people who occasionally curl in the squat rack, people who half or quarter rep on machines and then proceed to not re-rack their weights, people who talk on the phone in the free weight area, people who superset during busy hours, people who disregard their personal hygiene, and people who do not put weights or equipment back to where they found them.  

LA Fitness has the worst operating hours you'll ever find for a gym.  They aren't open until 5a weekdays and even more concerning, they don't open doors until 8a on the weekend. 

Overall, I'm giving this location a generous 3 stars due to the fact that I can get most of my training done here with the amount of equipment that they have.  Mike, the manager and some of his staff try to do a good job to make it bearable to come here.  There are a few friendly faces who work the front desk and a lovely custodian lady who works very hard to keep things looking decent.  It's certainly far from perfect, but until a new bodybuilding/powerlifting gym is built here in this area, LA Fitness will be the hesitant choice that people like me will have to make.
