awesome staff members with personality. laid back atmosphere, members are generally kind. things get messy but it doesn't interfere with working out. machines work fine, sauna is a nice and often uncrowded amenity. the juice bar girls are very nice too! say hi!

Coming back !!! I miss it here it's a motivating atmosphere and the people are way more friendly and I love that I can come to the gym and actually feel comfortable I've been to several gyms and I can honestly say this gym and location is cool . No place is perfect but I lost the most weight working out here and I felt relaxed and comfortable while doing it . A lot of other places might be open later but at least at this place you can put in a good workout at a decent time of day and people will actually show you how to use equipment.

This LA Fitness in the mall is different from the other Metro Detroit locations. Smaller, with no pools and an urban loft style instead of the Art Deco-y style of the others. Its more dimly lit with exposed pipes. More than half the floor is older machines. Of course the newer treadmills, ellipticals, etc.  are up front facing the mall. So is the juice bar, which is open to all mall denizens - when it's open.
There is an aerobics room and a smallish spinning room with only 18 cycles. 
The good news here though is that it's  usually not crowded. You can often have the sauna to yourself if you want or not have to wait in line for machines as much as most other locations. 
And if you're a mall walker more than a treadmill walker, you can wear your coat inside in the winter and put it in a locker while you walk. Though at least the ladies locker room is closed for 1 hour per day. Forgot to ask if it's the same for the men.

Another gym that originally had great equipment but has poor maintenance and poor cleanliness. 
There are a decent good amount of free weights, roughly 4 flat bench, 2 incline bench's and 2 decline bench's. Dumbbells up to 100lbs (you might have to look around as they are never put back), a lot of push and pull hammer strength machines, only 2 squat racks, 1 hack squat, small boxing area with a heavy bag,  and a lot of machines for both upper and lower body. Locker room is large and has a sauna, need to bring your own lock. 
There aren't many great options in the Dearborn area so this is one of the better out there, just don't expect to see most people cleaning up or re-racking their weights.

I really love LA fitness so I was sadden by the HORRIBLE experience I had here 2 months ago. One of the workers by the name of Ollie got me to sign up under false pretenses....told me there was a deal for a $72 initation fee with the first month free if I signed up that day. It turned out, that not only was that a lie, he was fired for doing it to others. Thats not even the worst part....the management there...I forget her name...did absolutely NOTHING to correct this. Not only was she trying NOT to at least honor what was told to me, she was trying to say that I still OWED THEM MONEY!! I truly could not believe it. I was so angry that I called corporate. Corporate ended up refunding me my all of my money. The only sad part was they actually canceled my membership without asking me...so I guess in a way I was still punished for someone else's mistakes, because I now no longer have a membership even though I truly did love working out there. I just would NEVER EVER go back to the Fairlane location even though the people were kind...management messed it up for me completely.
