One of Meriden's untapped hiking destination, with a backstory about how Lamentation Mountain was named. Located in the North East corner of Meriden, it is part of the Guifredda Park area, next to Hunters golf course. To reach Lamentation Mountain on foot, follow the fire service road along the power line right of way. The road will lead you past a boat launch area, and continues North to where it ascends. A foot trail bifercates to the right, taking you around the lake on a "white blazed" trail. Stay left/straight and begin your ascent. You are now climbing Lamentation Mountain. A footpath will appear to your left, with some beautiful scenery expected. Long ago, a child was missing and presumed lost in the general area, many years ago. The father of the lost child is said to have broken down emotionally at the peak of this mount, and after Lamenting to his Lord and Savior of his changed ways, returned home to discover that his sleepy son at the fishing hole had awoken and hurried home to avoid causing his parents distress. The released searchers thus named the mount, Lamentation Mountain. (Note: this as the story was told to me in my youth, I make no claim as to being the local historian or poet laureate. TP)

Google Maps leads you into a condo complex that doesn't appear to have access to the park. Searching around, I found a entrance sign on Footit Dr., on the opposite side of the park. Unfortunately, by the time I found it, I didn't have time to check it out. Can anyone confirm?

Good hiking trail options from easy to hard. Talk is well paved. Great scenery especially by lake and at top of Lamentation Mt. Worth the hike.

Where is it?? When I follow Google maps' directions, I'm lead into a condo complex with no sign of a state park or any trails.
