This place is incredible. There is always a line down the block, and with good reason. Tamales cooking by the bag, fresh tacos, rolled, crunchy, or soft, and a great variety of meats round out the menu. It's cash-only, so plan ahead, but it's well worth it. A Mexican restaurant near an underpass may some sketches, but once you have tried the food you'll know why people are willing to wait. The line moves quickly, and there are multiple spacious rooms for groups to eat and enjoy.

This is an institution from what we could see. The fresh, made on the grounds tortillas must be the clincher that makes people stand in line down the street at lunchtime to stuff their faces with the rolled tortillas, burritos and tortillas here. Had the chorizo with rice and beans and it tastes very basic. However, freshly made tortillas takes things to a different level, and is likely why people queue out into the street. The menu is simple and no nonsense, it has a nice atmosphere and there are just a lot of people who come here to either eat in, or buy a whole bunch of tortillas to take home.

Born and raised in SD, Mexican food has always been one of my favorites. But this is exceptional. Now living in Denver for the last 26 years, each visit to my hometown starts with a stop to have my favorite rice-beans-chorizo concoction. And the home made tortillas and spicy hot sauce are the best in town. You have to experience the barrio and the culture of this family owned special place in my heart and stomach restaurant!

Any time you are in the San Diego area and see a Mexican restaurant that appears family run, doesn't have a huge sign or Marquee and despite ni signs or advertising there's a line all the way down the sidewalk, you know the food is legit. This place had about 6 or 7 items on the menu. It is prepared simply and quickly to order and despite the simplicity it is very authentic and delicious. If you like real deal Mexican food this place makes simple yet tasty Mexican comfort food.

This place was def the best of what we experienced in San Diego. Rolled tacos were a bit dry but burritos were delish. Hot sauce/salsa actually had some lingering heat. Everything is made from scratch. Rice and beans were legit. And there was a decent line.
