This is a awesome place to visit. The museum is wonderful and brings the Little House on The Prairie alive. If you go the right time of year, you might even get to meet some of the actors from the series!!!! Like Almonzo Wilder.

We will be there Sept 27/28 and I'm looking forward to seeing it all again. Am very stressed though because I'm deaf and won't have an interpreter. Not sure how this will work out for me. From the home page it looks like only contact is by phone and I can't do that. Any ideas? An Email address would be most helpful. Plus 5 or 10 or more stars! The docents were wonderful, handing out written information for me. And since I was also hobbling, they suggested driving to the Rock House instead of hiking. All were very knowledgable, friendly and caring. I'll do it again the next opportunity.

As a child, I loved Laura Ingalls Wilder's books about pioneer family life. It was a special joy to serendipitously come across the home she and her husband lived in, as I drove across southern Missouri one day unaware of the historic site until I drew close to Mansfield. If you're a fan of Laura's too, or have a child to whom you can introduce her delightful tales, do spend at least part of a day at her home. Sit under a tree or open up a picnic basket on the grounds -- I'm sure Laura would have loved it.

Wonderful experience. The docents are so personable and full of interesting "Laura" information. Even if they are saying the same thing for the thousandth time, it doesn't show. These folks are genuinely caretakers of the Laura Ingalls Wilder property and legacy. The new museum is a fantabulous facility, with all the memorabilia displayed with the proper amount of space, so respectfully and so professionally. Love you Laura Ingalls Wilder, your books, your legacy and your preserved homes and museum :)

My family really enjoyed this place. They've read the books so the history was really cool. For kids under 10 it was about all they could handle as a tour taking about 2.5 hours.
