I've been a member since 2007-2008, I believe I joined a few months after they originally opened. This was an amazing place for so long. The issue is once most of Columbia caught on to the location and the great reviews, it became over populated and wasn't built for the amount of members they have taken in. I'm no genius on what a max capacity is of a facility, but when people begin parking in adjacent parking lots, it's probably a sign of being too crowded. Again, I loved this gym, the staff are descent, the facility is usually clean, equipment is fixed in a good amount of time. The issues are as follows: 

-over crowded (almost all hours of the day)
-summers are ridiculous. It's more of a day care for bratty kids, than a gym for adults. Parents drop their kids off with teenagers that watch them in groups of 15 kids per each teenager. They destroy the locker rooms, are obnoxiously out of control. My kids have always had manners, but I know how they get around other kids, so lifetime should accommodate these kids to be in a seperate area from professionals that have limited time to squeeze in a workout. 
-parking gets horrible during prime hours. People park on the incoming street and sometimes in adjacent parking lots. 
-this gym will always accept new members!!! Even when the gym is so crowded that the sales rep is walking someone in and swerving around other members like you are walking through a flea market on Saturday morning, they just tell the people "it's not always like this"... that's incorrect.. it won't get any better. New members will keep coming in. Every year it gets worse. 
- like someone else stated, at night this place gets ghetto and the staff doesn't address the issues. People just don't follow gym etiquette. Which you would think the membership costs would keep the late night rift raft out of this place. 

Bottom line is, I would pay more a month for them to downsize some and make this place less like a daycare and more like the "ultimate gym". It one time was labeled that way to me by other members, but now it has a different label and it's sad to see such a great place slowly go downhill in such a short period of time.

This is an acceptable/semi decent gym but it's way too crowded, even at typical off peak times.

Equipment is maintained fairly well though there are a small number of machines with the dreaded busted pads.

The showers all have old school shower curtains that have pink and black mold growing in their folds. That is the reason for the two star rating.

Gym patrons are a mega mix of cool people and some sloppy pigs that resemble beings that were born in outlying barn complexes rather than hospitals. 

Parking is a problem as the facility is over capacity and crowded.  Also you can see that many people were so excited to work out, swim or pay $10 for a large smoothie that it impacted their parking abilities.

Staff members are mostly good people despite Life Time's exploitation of Americans by paying them minimum wage for tedious and difficult tasks.

I have two big complaints.

 1. All of the shower curtains have black mold on them.

2. The restrooms at LIfetime DO NOT offer protective sheets to put down before sitting on the toilet. There are only three stalls in the men's locker room and they usually have urine on the seat. 
I have been to fast food restaurants that off let protective toliet seat covers, so why does a gym that he almost $100 a month not have them? At least have staff check/clean the stalls through out the day because it's ridiculous that I have to stop and use the bathroom before I get to my fancy gym.

These are my only two issues, the actual facility is great and most of the staff I've interacted with have been great.

I normally don't post reviews but I felt the need to post one in this instance. If I could give zero stars I would!!

When I first joined the Columbia MD club I signed up for a personal fitness coach. I paid over $500.00 for sessions and never heard from the trainer! It took six months to have my money returned to me and the hoops I had to jump through just to get that money were overwhelming! In October 2016, I not only moved out of the area, but moved out of the country. I went into the club before I left to  cancel my membership and was assured that it was canceled, however that was NOT the case! I have been hounded by Lifetime Fitness for over 5 1/2 months say long that I owe them more and more money! I informed them that I had canceled this memebership but this has not stopped the harassment! I don't know how other LifeTime Fitness facilities operate but the Columbia facility, as well as LifeTime Fitness corporate, are horrible! Beware before you join this facility!!

The staff and equipment are 1st rate. My grandson and I enjoy the pool even when it is crowded. All the classes I have attended are fun and the instructors are great. My only concern are the cars that constantly park in the motorcycle parking spots. The inconsiderate people who are too lazy to park properly.
