If you live in San Jose, this might be one of the closest hikes in redwoods you can get. Free parking and no entrance fee. I went with my 2 year old. She enjoyed it and was able to walk quite a bit, but held her hand tight- steep sides and some poison oak. Trail is nice and wide. Easily accessible, not far from freeway. We had a great time.

Beautiful hidden treasure of Scotts Valley. Awesome loop through the redwoods and an amazing view of the valley from the top. Great place to take your pups too!

Hilly, shady walking. Some steep pitches, tree roots - not best for unsteady people. Great for dogs (note that many are off leash, though this isn't 'legal'). Business park parking lot, though many local people just walk in. One trashcan at trailhead, no water or toilet.
